In a world filled with corruption and injustice, do not be overcome by evil. Instead, overcome evil with good. Fight hatred with love, for that is the way of true victory.

The godly are tested and tempted, but God personally assumes the office of liberating those who trust Him. He knows who to release, when to release it, and how to release it. He delivers in the way that is most profitable to the godly, most crushing to the tempter, and most glorifying to Himself. We can leave the "how" to the Lord, and be content to rejoice in the fact that He will cause His own people to overcome all the dangers, trials, and temptations of this mortal life, to the glory of His own right-handed.

God promised to protect Ebed-melech, a despised Ethiopian who helped Jeremiah during his persecution. This shows that God rewards those who help his persecuted servants. Even though Ebed-melech was a poor man, he was protected by God while thousands were killed by the Chaldeans. If we are faithful to God in times of persecution, he will be faithful to us and protect us from those who seek to harm us. No act of kindness towards a servant of God goes unrewarded, and if we defend Jesus, he will defend us.

The author longs to have a heart that is always right and grateful to bless the name of the Lord. The righteous may face tests but will ultimately be blessed by God for their integrity. The promise of dwelling in God's presence is reserved for the upright and favored people who enjoy communion with Him. The author desires to be upright in all things and give thanks to God's name forever. Amen.

The fear of the Lord leads to virtuous habits and prevents a wasted life from sin and vice. Trust in God helps when we are sick as it calms the mind. We should not fear sudden death but expect a long life if it is for our good. Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Because God is always with us, we should be content with what we have and not seek validation from others. We should fear God more than any earthly persecution, as modern-day threats cannot compare to the persecution faced by early Christians. We may face mockery and scorn from the world, but with God's help, we can be courageous and not be afraid.

When we sense the movements of the Lord, we must be active and seize the opportunity to share His message with others. We must be brave in our actions and trust that God is leading us. The promise that the Lord goes before us should give us the courage to act boldly.

The law of Christ compels us to treat workers well, as the Lord promises to bless acts of generosity. Those who are children of a gracious God should be generous, and can expect blessings in prosperity, contentment of mind, and the sense of His favor. Humble hearts seek grace and receive it abundantly. They submit to its influence and abide in the valleys where the streams of grace flow. Humble hearts are thankful for grace and give glory to God, which leads to more grace. To receive grace, we must humble ourselves and acknowledge our unworthiness. Grace makes us humble and finds opportunities to pour out more grace. Let us be humble and be exalted by the grace of God.

As outcasts of traditional worship, we are not deprived of God's grace. He is our refuge and sanctuary, providing us with tranquility, mercy, holiness, and communion through Christ. We need nothing else but Him. Let us trust in Him and find comfort in His presence.

Obedience brings blessings to all the provisions we receive through diligence. Even if we have very little, the blessing of the Lord is promised. However, if we have a reserve, we need the Lord's blessing even more, as the cares of obtaining, keeping, administering, and using our goods can consume us. We should use our worldly possessions for God's glory and not let them endanger our salvation.

Do not give to the poor to be seen by others or for personal reward. Give generously and without seeking recognition. The joy of secret generosity is greater than any worldly banquet. The Lord will reward the secret giver in His own time and in the best way possible.

David's words may not have explicitly promised help, but they were endorsed by the Lord and therefore true. We should remember the Lord's past mercies and have confidence that He will deliver us again. We should not fear the enemy, as God has been with us before and will be with us again. Let us have courage.

God has always remembered us and will continue to bless us in the future. This promise comes from the Holy Spirit and is infinite in scope. We should praise and bless God for His faithfulness.

The fear of falling is natural, but we can trust in the right hand of God to sustain us. This hand represents His power and skill, and He promises to always uphold us with it. We should not be afraid, for the devil cannot bring down those whom God sustains. We can boldly move forward, leaning on God's support and trusting in His faithfulness. This should bring us great joy and peace.

The promise of the sun rising after a dark night is a reminder of the coming of Christ, who brings justice and mercy. The enemy and their forges are making weapons to destroy the saints, but they will not prosper. The contest of languages is also a threat, with slander and falsehoods being like poisoned arrows. However, the Lord promises that even if we cannot silence tongues, we will escape being ruined by them. The mouths of those who speak against us will be silenced, and their falsehoods turned to our honor.

The promise of "something" from God is vast and covers all our needs. We should always ask in the name of Jesus, which is a powerful argument before God. We must only use His name for prayers that Jesus himself would say. If we ask in accordance with His will, we will receive what we ask for. Uninterrupted prosperity should cause fear and trembling as it may indicate that God has no esteem for us. God rebukes and disciplines those whom He loves, but allows those He has no esteem for to grow fat without fear. God uses the rod to correct His children out of love, but the punishment is with justice and regulated according to wisdom, sympathy, and love. We should not rebel against divine stipulations and accept punishment from God's hand with gladness, saying, "Your will be done."

True circumcision is performed by Jehovah God on our hearts, not on our flesh. It is the essential sign of the covenant of grace and results in a love for God that brings life. We can accumulate a service that compensates for our past impiety and use our bitter experience to warn others. If we become more vigilant, jealous, and tender, we can still win and become more useful to God. Let us believe in this miracle of love and live for it. Peter became a much more useful man after his presumption was healed by his manifest weakness. Let us pray for God's help and grace.

To have unlimited power in prayer, we must abide in Christ and remain in a living, loving, conscious, and willing union with Him. This means staying close to Him and receiving life and fertility from Him. Our heart must remain in love, our mind rooted in faith, and our hope grounded in the Word. We must be united with the Lord and have constant communion with Him. If we break our communion with Him, we lose power in our supplications. The Lord must abide in us, and we in Him, for us to have powerful prayers.

God's patient mercies are available even in the midst of grave misfortune. He invites us to confess our sins and turn to Jesus, and He will turn away from His wrath. Unlike humans, God is patient and forgiving. Confess, believe, and return from the wrong path to be saved.

Grace transforms us into precious metal but it requires us to go through fire and furnace which is a necessary process. We should not choose to be considered unworthy and rest like stones, but rather welcome the refining process. The Lord values us as silver and removes our dross. We should pray to suppress our alloy rather than be removed from the crucible. We should trust in the Lord's process of purification.

Just as the sun brings new life to the sick and cattle, communion with the Lord can bring freedom and joy to our souls. We should not be content with staying stagnant in our faith, but should grow and expand in our relationship with God. Foolish and superstitious fears are cut by trust in God. Even if witchcraft and omens were true, they could not harm God's people. The wicked may plot against them, but they are doomed to fail without the Lord's help. Spells and divination will not work against those who trust in God. We have power with God and no one can prevail against us. We need not fear the devil or any secret enemies, as they cannot harm those who trust in God.

To be saved, one must confess with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus is the risen Savior. If one has done this, they can confidently claim the promise of salvation. God has said "You will be saved" and it is a guarantee from the guilt, power, punishment, and ultimately the being of sin. The believer can rest in the assurance of their salvation.

The Lord does not reject those whom he loves. His love is permanent and serious. He chose us from eternity and will love us throughout eternity. He died for us and His honor is involved in our salvation. The Lord Jesus never rejects His members or His wife. We should never think that we are discarded by the Lord. He hates putting away.

When we are called to serve or suffer, we often feel like we don't have enough strength to handle it. However, we can lean on God's promise to provide us with the strength we need. Sometimes God gives us unexpected strength in difficult situations, allowing us to rise above our weak constitutions. We can be courageous because of God's promise to strengthen us.

When we grow old and our bodies deteriorate, God remains the same and will carry us through our weakness. He made us and will take care of us, even when we become a burden to ourselves and others. We should not fear old age, but grow old graciously knowing that the Lord is with us in fullness of grace. This is a promise for all of us, as we will all experience old age if we live long enough.

God is always available and ready to help us in times of need. Unlike earthly aids, He is efficient, sympathetic, and fully available. We can rest in Him and trust that He will be our shelter, strength, and help. We should not worry or fear because the Lord is with us and He is our refuge.

Peace will only be established by the reign of the Prince of Peace, who will teach people by His Spirit, renew hearts by His grace, and reign in them by His supreme power. Only Jesus can turn the bloodthirsty passions of man into a peaceful lamb. Let us pray for peace to be established throughout the world.

The best way to serve Christ is by imitating Him. By following His example, we honor His name and earn His company. If we suffer with Him here on earth, we will share in His glory in heaven. The Father will also honor those who faithfully follow His Son. This honor is far greater than any that can be bestowed by earthly princes or emperors. Therefore, we should hold fast to the Lord Jesus and strive to imitate Him every day.

It's better to persevere in integrity, even if it doesn't bring wealth, than to achieve success through questionable means. Walking in truth and justice is like walking on solid and safe ground. We should never do something our conscience can't justify, as losing our inner peace would be worse than losing a fortune. Following what is good may make us seem like fools to some, but we will be approved in the judgment of the infallible.

God may contend with us when we sin, but His rebuke is not forever. If we repent and turn to Him, He will forgive us and comfort us. We should not despair, but seek His face with humble hearts. The Lord's blessings are the highest good for us, without any of the disadvantages that come with earthly things. Even when using the metaphor of wide rivers to represent abundance, the Lord takes care to exclude any fear that may come with it. The author asks that if the Lord blesses them with riches, health, happiness, or success, they also ask for protection from pride, worldliness, arrogance, and self-confidence. They ask for blessings that enrich without adding sadness or favoring sin.

The Second Man, the Lord of heaven, the Son of man, is our hiding place. He endures the wind and protects us from the wrath of God and men, the cares of life, and fear of death. In times of affliction, He is a refuge that never fails. We should take refuge in Him and rest in His protection. He is our blessed Jesus, our hiding place in stormy weather.

The author feels weak and broken after someone said they didn't care about them. They compare themselves to a reed or a smoking wick with no light. However, they find comfort in Jesus' protection and hope that he will turn them on again to shine for his glory.

Staying in obedience and staying in the love of Jesus cannot be separated. A life under the rule of Christ is the only way to show we are His delight. We must keep His commandments to receive His love. Sin separates us from His love, and holiness pleases Him. Conscious enjoyment of His love is sensitive to sin and holiness. We must be obedient and consecrated to walk in the light and abide in His love. This promise is sweet and solemn.

Humility leads to honor and submission is the way to exaltation. We must humble ourselves before God and accept His punishment with deep submission. Our exaltation can only come when the time is right, and we must wait in quiet submission for it.

The author desires to be divinely taught in order to understand themselves, God, and their Savior. They want to live a wise life and be a soul winner, converting many to Christ. This is a more glorious achievement than earning stars in court and will make them shine forever like many stars. They ask the Lord to give them life.

If you have a burden that is too heavy to bear, give it to God. He will sustain you and turn your burden into a blessing. Trust in Him and He will not allow your affliction to move you from your position of righteousness. Tell God about your pain and leave it with Him. Walk in freedom and joy knowing that God is carrying your burden for you.

The prophet calls upon mountains to sing praises to the Lord for His grace upon Zion. We too can make the mountains of difficulty and trial sing praises to God. The Lord wants His people to be happy and adoring of His unchanging love, and we should not be sad or suspicious. We should long for well-tuned harps and cherubic voices to praise Him.

God promises to answer the prayers of His servants and has miracles in store for them. He will do anything to help them in their distress and asks only that they cry out to Him. Let us pray to Him with confidence.

Sennacherib was unable to carry out his threats against the city he wanted to destroy, as the Lord is able to stop the enemies of His people. Similarly, the Lord can prevent our adversaries from harming us. We must trust in Him and not fear until the enemy actually comes.

When God gives someone grace, He will give them more. But it must be a real and true faith, not just a profession without substance. It is better to love a lot than to know a lot. We should long for an abundance of grace and faith. We should ask God to deepen our hatred of evil, raise our faith to full assurance, and give us a fierce affection for Him.

True religion often finds a home among the poor who are rich in faith, as affliction and poverty can lead to trust in the Lord. This faithful remnant may be considered little by the world, but they are a channel of blessings and a preservative salt in the midst of corruption. The question for each individual is whether they are part of this remnant and if they trust in the Lord. If so, they are in the world for a purpose.

We should not expect immediate rewards for our good deeds and should not limit our efforts to those who will reward us. We should be like the Egyptian who throws seed into the Nile, which seems like a waste, but produces a harvest in due time. Our job is to do good and teach, and it is up to God to fulfill his promise. We must exercise patience as the promise may take time to be fulfilled. We should focus on keeping the precept and doing good on this day.

It is an immense privilege to have the blessing of the Lord upon us in all things, even the most common things such as bread and water. With God at our table, we not only ask for a blessing, but we have one. This blessing is not out of debt, but out of grace. Truly, there is a threefold grace: He grants us grace to serve Him, by His grace he feeds us with bread, and then in His grace He blesses it.

Jeremiah was hated for telling the truth, but he was accepted by God. He was commanded to remain faithful and carry out God's cleansing work. God gave him the honor of being His mouthpiece. Good works cannot come from a depraved human nature, but only from a real conversion produced by the Spirit of God. They also come from a constant spiritual influence and union with Christ. Good works are gifts from God and cannot be produced by an unjust, unsaved, and ungodly person. Therefore, there can be little merit in them.

If Jesus was hated without cause, we should expect to face the same persecution as Christians. We should not seek persecution, but if it comes, we should rejoice in it for the sake of Christ. However, we should also make sure that if we face opposition, it is for the sake of justice and not because of our own sin or offensive behavior. Those who hate Christ should turn to Him and experience His love and salvation.

The text "My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory" means that God's riches in nature, providence, and grace are beyond comprehension. His glory is even greater, and through Christ Jesus, we can receive all that we need. We must abide in Him and not rely on our own strength. The author wishes the reader a Happy New Year filled with the blessings of God.

The passage from Philippians means that God will fill all our needs to the brim, just like the woman who had empty oil jars and received enough oil to fill all the borrowed containers. The more needs we have, the more God will fill them. He gives abundantly to His people and meets all our spiritual needs.
