Lord, Save Me from My Sins!

Summary: Lord Jesus, save me from my past sins so that their habits do not hold me captive, and from my weaknesses so that they do not enslave me. Guard my conscience against the sins I continually see; show me the hidden things I do not perceive, and sustain me when sudden temptations arise. Do not let iniquity rule over me. You alone can break my chains and defeat my enemies. You were tempted and bore sin; therefore, you can help me in the struggle, keep me from sinning, and save me when I have sinned. Deliver me from a bad temper, pride, and discouragement, and lead me into a holy life that glorifies your name.
Lord, save me from my sins. Your name, Jesus, encourages me to pray in this way. Save me from my past sins, so that the habit of them does not hold me captive.
Save me from my constitutional sins, so that I may not be a slave to my own weaknesses. Save me from the sins that are continually before my eyes, so that I do not lose my horror of them. Save me from my secret sins—sins I do not perceive because I lack light. Save me from sudden and surprising sins: do not let the force of temptation draw me from my path. Save me, Lord, from every sin. Do not let iniquity have dominion over me.
Only You can do this. I cannot break my own chains or rid myself of my enemies. You know temptation, for You were tempted. You know sin, for You bore the weight of that sin. You know how to help me in my hour of conflict. You can save me from sinning and save me when I have sinned. It has been promised in Your own name that You will do this, and I beg You to let me see the prophecy fulfilled today. Do not let me give in to a bad temper, or pride, or discouragement, or any form of evil; instead, save me for a holy life, so that Your name, Jesus, may be abundantly glorified in me.
