The Lord Will Guide Us
I will bring the blind by a way that they don't know; in paths that they don't know will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things will I do, and I will not forsake them. — Isaiah 42:16

Summary: Though by nature we are blind to the way of salvation, the Lord leads us onto it, brings us to himself, and opens our eyes. We do not know the future or foresee how deliverance will come, but Jesus knows the way and will guide us to the end, keeping us from danger. Let us place our hand in his, entrust our path to him, and surrender ourselves to him. When he brings us home to glory and we can see how he led us, we will sing to him with gratitude. Today we can ask him to guide us, for we do not know our way.
Think of the infinitely glorious Jehovah acting as a Guide to the blind! What boundless condescension this implies! A blind person cannot find a road he does not know. Even when he knows the road, he finds it difficult to travel; but a road he has never known would be an impossible venture for his feet without a guide.
Now, we are blind by nature concerning the way of salvation, and yet the Lord brings us into it, leads us to Himself, and then opens our eyes. We are all blind concerning the future and cannot see even the next hour, but the Lord Jesus will guide us to the end of our journey. Blessed be His name!
We cannot guess how deliverance will come to us, but the Lord knows, and He will guide us until we have escaped every danger. Blessed are those who place their hand in that great Guide’s hand, entrust their way to Him, and surrender themselves to Him. He will guide them all the way; and when He has brought them home, to glory, and opened their eyes to see the way by which He led them, what a song of gratitude they will sing to their great Benefactor! Lord, guide Your poor blind child today, for I do not know my way!
