Summary: Although rebellion, false lords, and differing ideas about God and his Gospel abound today, the day will come when Jehovah will be known among all nations and acknowledged as the only King. We do not need to determine when this will happen: the promise of his Word is sure. Jesus did not die in vain, the Spirit does not work in vain, and the Father’s purposes will not be thwarted. So we cry, “Your kingdom come,” and continue our daily work and our struggle, strengthened in faith and confident that Jesus will be crowned where Satan triumphed.

What a blessed prospect! This is not an enthusiast’s dream, but the declaration of the infallible Word. Jehovah will be known among all nations, and His gracious influence will be acknowledged by all the tribes of mankind. Today, this is far from being so.

Where does anyone bow before the Great King? How much rebellion there is! How many lords and how many gods there are upon the earth! Even among professing Christians, what a diversity of ideas there is about Him and His Gospel! One day there will be one King, one Jehovah, and one name for the living God. O God, hasten that day! Daily we cry: Your kingdom come.

We will not debate the question of when this will be. As surely as the Holy Spirit spoke through His prophets, so surely will the earth be filled with the glory of the Lord. Jesus did not die in vain. The Spirit of God does not work in vain. The eternal purposes of the Father will not be frustrated. Here, where Satan triumphed, Jesus will be crowned, and the Lord God Almighty will reign. Let us go on to our daily work and our warfare, strengthened in faith.
