Our Integrity Can Be God’s Instrument for Saving Our Children
A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him. — Proverbs 20:7

Summary: Concern for our family can lead us to care for our own character. If we walk before the Lord with integrity, we will leave our children a legacy more valuable than property: the example of a holy life, a good name, our prayers, and the blessing of God, who hears those prayers even after our death. We want our children to be saved even now. Our integrity can be God’s instrument for this: seeing the truth of our faith demonstrated in our lives, they may come to believe in Jesus for themselves. Let us pray that God will fulfill this word in our family.
Anxiety about our family is natural, but we would be wise to turn it into concern for our own character. If we walk before the Lord in integrity, we will do more to bless our descendants than if we left them great estates. A parent’s holy life is a rich legacy for their children.
The upright man leaves his heirs his example, and this in itself is a mine of true wealth. How many people can attribute their success in life to their parents’ example! He also leaves them his good name. People think better of us when we are the children of a trustworthy man or the successors of a merchant with an excellent reputation. Oh, that all young people would be eager to safeguard the family name!
Above all, he leaves his children his prayers and the blessing of a God who hears prayer, and these prayers cause our offspring to find favor among the children of men. God will save them even after we have died. Oh, that they might be saved at once!
Our integrity may be God’s instrument for saving our sons and daughters. If they see the truth of our faith demonstrated by our lives, they might come to believe in Jesus for themselves. Lord, fulfill this word for my family!
