Mark 16:1-8

Dr. Roberto Miranda
(Audio: English)

SUMMARY: The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a crucial event in the Christian faith, as it refutes the negative consequences of the fall and establishes a precedent that death is no longer unconquerable. The resurrection offers advantages and resources for living life today, and believers can live in the power of the resurrection and live above the challenges and inconveniences of this world. The resurrection has released a certain way of living for believers, and they are called to live in that power that God has made possible through Jesus Christ.

The power of the resurrection is already ours as believers, and we need to align our consciousness with what God has already done. Just as the women who went to see Jesus' body in the tomb did not know that the problems they were considering had already been solved, we need to understand that the power of the resurrection is already ours, even if circumstances seem to deny it. We attain this power through faith, not by eyesight or experience, and we need to trust in what God has declared and walk accordingly.

The power of the resurrection is released through faith, not through eyesight or experience. We should not wait until everything is clear and provided for before undertaking journeys or endeavors. Even if we feel unqualified or incapable, if we believe it is aligned with God's will, we should go for it and trust in Him. God often chooses the underdog with a heart aligned with Him. We should not let physical limits or difficulties prevent us from undertaking anything that we believe is aligned with God's will. The less qualified we are, the more qualified we are to be a bearer of God's strength.

Don't let anything stop you from experiencing the power of the resurrection in your life. We should live within it and let it guide our actions. We are called to live by faith and not let challenges stop us from doing great things for God.

Let’s go for the word of the Lord in Mark, chapter 16, let’s begin with verse 1, we’ll go probably until verse 8 and we’ll also explore a little bit beyond, but let’s just read that part.

“When the Sabbath was over Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first of the day, just after sunrise they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, ‘Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?’ But when they looked up they saw that the stone which was very large had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb they saw a young man dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side and they were alarmed. ‘Don’t be alarmed’, he said, ‘you’re looking for Jesus the Nazarene who was crucified. He has risen, he is not here. See the place where they laid him, but go tell his disciples and Peter, he is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him just as he told you.’ Trembling and bewildered the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone because they were afraid.”
