Summary: In the second part of Romans 13, the Apostle Paul reminds Christians to live a life of respect and love towards others, guided by the principle of love. He emphasizes that love is the fulfillment of the law and urges believers not to owe anyone anything but to love one another. He also calls on them to discard the works of darkness and put on the weapons of light, to live honestly and avoid sinful behaviors such as gluttony, drunkenness, lusts, and envy. The life of purity and holiness is the calling of God's children, and they must put on the Lord Jesus Christ and not provide for the desires of the flesh.
The speaker is discussing the importance of living with an eternal perspective in light of the coming of Jesus Christ. They believe that Christ's return is imminent and that Christians must live their lives accordingly. The speaker references the parable of the foolish and wise virgins and the need to be prepared for Christ's return at any moment. They also discuss the signs of the times, including the corruption of humanity and the speeding up of time, and emphasize the importance of living a holy and consecrated life. The speaker encourages Christians to cast off the works of darkness and put on the weapons of light, living lives of transparency and openness. They also reference various biblical passages that describe behaviors to avoid, such as gluttony, drunkenness, lust, and envy.
The passage discusses the importance of living a pure, holy life that is pleasing to the Lord and being aware of the passing time. Christians should invest their time in worthwhile things such as learning more about the Lord, preparing to preach the Gospel, and working for God's work. Christians should also live healthy lives and have healthy fun, as they have to be strong, joyful, and energetic to serve the Lord. Christians should live diligent, consecrated, and active lives that are committed and surrendered to the Lord, as they wait for the second coming of Jesus Christ. The passage ends with a prayer for the Lord to remind Christians day after day that Christ is coming soon, to help them redeem their time and live at a level of purity, integrity, and diligence to the glory of His name.
Chapter 13, Romans. Two weeks ago we touched on the first part of Chapter 13 of Romans, so last Sunday we separated it to meditate on the resurrection, being resurrection Sunday. And this morning I am going to complete the Chapter, I was debating whether to simply go to 15, we are already reaching the end of this beautiful study of the epistle to the Romans, it has blessed me a lot personally, to be able to go through such a profound epistle, so rich, but decided, we are going to stop at the second part of Chapter 13. It seems very appropriate to me this morning that we do it in light of all that we have received from the Lord.
Remember that in Romans there are two parts, it's like a book in two parts: the first part is a very exalted part, very theological in content. A revelation about the nature of God's plan, the sin of humanity, the irredeemable nature of humanity by itself, by its own works, the need for a savior who is Jesus Christ, the need for God's grace, the total sinfulness of man as well as grace and mercy and purity, the holiness of God, many beautiful things in those first 12 chapters of Romans. Actually, 11 Chapters, so from Chapter 12 onwards there is a practical part, a part of behavior, of conduct, of how the Christian life should be in light of what God has done to bring us to his plan of salvation.
And then the Apostle Paul goes into a series of advice, practical advice, advice I call low to the ground, advice for daily life, about how our life should be in light of the exalted character of the plan of salvation and of God's dealings with humanity. So, in Chapter 13 we saw that in the first part, you will remember those who were here two Sundays ago, the Apostle Paul talks about respecting higher authorities, he calls them. It can be the civil authority, the governmental authority, it can be the police authority, it can be respecting our..., those who work in the armed forces, those who protect our nation, those who have authority in a way, pay our taxes , respect traffic laws, respect civil laws, all these things. And we said that the fundamental position of the Christian is a position of respect for authority. We also said that the Apostle Paul not only limited himself to authority in the sense of people who walk around with a revolver or with a badge or with a government title or something like that, but Paul also goes deeper and is more comprehensive in his call to respect authority and he says, respect all authorities.
Our brother used to sing about his pastor and how nice it was that he honored his pastor, and he keeps that one, not dropping hints here just in case, right? But now, if you want, well, you know, that doesn't hurt either. Whoever has ears to hear listen, to the good understanding... by the way my birthday is..... no, no.
Now what touches me is that this young man came to know God through his pastor and his voice has a special vibration when he talks about his pastor. And he knows that it is on the Internet so if you want your pastor to hear it there in Honduras or see it, you can go to our page and tell him that he can hear your word of respect for him, so maybe he can contact him in Honduras. there also through the video.
But what moves me is this young man's desire to honor his spiritual authority. I told the young people and all of us, let's also honor our parents. Amen. How many believe that? Let's honor our grandparents, let's honor our teachers, let's honor anyone who has had a positive influence in our lives. Let us honor the hujieres and deacons who work in the congregation, our elders, the people who are in authority and who do things.
And that's why Paul at the end, in verse 7 of his meditation on authority says:
β....Pay to all what you owe...β < /p>
Until then he's talking about officers of the law, but at one point he says:
β....Pay everyone what you owe, to whom tribute, tribute; to which tax, tax.... βbut then he says,-....to whom I respect, respect; to whom honor, honor....β
In other words, never stay owing anyone any kind of respect. I believe that there are many people who have problematic lives and failed lives and impeded lives in some dimension because they are not being paid, they owe someone something, in terms of honor, tribute, respect, consideration.
Many young people are living unsuccessful lives, they have a 'stop payment' in their account of heavenly blessings because they are not paying the honor and respect they owe to a teacher, a father, a mother. The disrespectful, resentful critical posture of a son against a father, a mother, always prevents God's blessing from flowing through his life. Now, when a young man honors his father and mother, blesses him, blesses his teachers, the elders, takes off his hat before gray hair, there is a special blessing for it. When you respect a law enforcement officer it is a blessing.
That's why he says in verse 8, β....Owe no one anything, but to love one another....β
At the moment like that his meditation changes, the twist.... so many times Paul writes. He is writing there quickly as when one writes a letter, for the moment you are focused on one thing and a word throws you into another association and Pablo writes like that, very spontaneously. So, he goes from authority and the respect that must be paid to people, from respect to authority and all this and says, look, don't owe anyone anything, if you owe someone honor, pay them honor; if you owe him a compliment, pay him a compliment; if you owe someone a word of encouragement, give them that word of encouragement; If you owe someone advice, give the advice. Don't stay owing anyone anything, brother.
How many of us sometimes end up owing someone something that we should say? One word, how many of us our parents died or a friend passed away and we were left with something? Boy, if I had told him how much I loved him. If I had written him that letter, if I had called him on the phone, if I had taken him out to dinner that day that I wanted....
And the Apostle Paul says, don't be left owing anyone anything. If you can do good, do it now. If you can call your mom and bless her today, do it today, don't do it on Mother's Day, ok? Amen. Don't send her a card that weighs three pounds on Mother's Day, and the rest of the time you send her nothing. Look, spread it out, two ounces a week is better. Amen. Don't send her a bouquet of flowers that has to be put through the door with great care because of how big Mother's Day is, send her a bouquet every month. Amen. And distribute. Don't owe anyone anything. Bless people with something.
Then he says: β.....Owe no one anything except to love one another....β
Why does Paul say that? Because sometimes one can become very technical, oh, well I owe such and such a thing to so-and-so, to the other... and Pablo says, you know what? Do you know what will guide you to give people what they deserve in any situation? Love. Love is like a radar that teaches you what you should do in any situation with people. Sometimes love demands that you tell someone the truth, because you pay the truth. Sometimes love demands that you give someone encouragement, give them a word of encouragement. Sometimes love demands that you give it advice or a compliment or pay respect, pay respect. Love is a wonderful guide to direct people to do the right thing.
And by the way, when I said that, the mental association immediately came to mind, and I think it's spiritual, that I think I better understand what Paul is saying when he talks about the qualities of love. It says that love does nothing improper, it also says that love, there's another word I'm looking for here, it's not improper, it's not improper. And the word unseemly means that it does not do anything inconvenient, it does not do anything inappropriate.
I believe that when a person has love in his heart, he always knows how to navigate in the environment and how he always knows how to relate to people. You can be in China and you know how to behave even if you don't know all the customs of the Chinese, because love is like a way of getting in tune with the other, of identifying yourself with the other. And when you know their heart, what is in their mind and in their spirit, because love enters once and for all into the interior vibrations of the person, you know how to treat these people. You put yourself in their place, and you already instinctively know how that person thinks. So you know if that person needs a word of affection, encouragement, respect, advice or whatever.
That's why I think Paul here in Romans 13 says that, β....for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled all the law....β
In other words, Paul always resisted legalism like Jesus did, because the Jews got so technical. Well, I must forgive my brother for this, for the other, I must pay such a thing to the other, so it has become a number of rules. And when Paul says, give people what they owe, one could fall into that question of good, what do I owe, how much and what. Pablo says, look, at the end of the day, it's not about doing calculations there with a little calculator, no, no, just let love guide you. And if love is in your heart and the desire to bless others, that will guide you and you will know exactly what to do in situations with people.
And that is why he says, β....and because he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled all the law, because you shall not commit adultery, you shall not kill, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, you shall not covet and whatever another commandment in this sentence is summarized: you shall love your neighbor as yourself.β
Love does no harm to others, so the fulfillment of the law is love. In other words, when you truly love, when a son loves his father, you shouldn't be telling him, respect your father. When there is sincere love, from the heart, legitimate love, authentic love, that son will love and honor his father, because there will be the desire not to do anything that harms his father or mother, that offend, embarrass, bring pain to your heart.
So, Pablo says, look, let yourselves be guided instead of being around, pay respect to the policeman, or to the one who does this, to the one who does that, no, whoever it is, sometimes a humble person... Francis who works over there in the parking lot, he doesn't have a badge, he doesn't have a badge here, I don't see a revolver in him, he's not a rich person or incredibly educated, ah, I don't have to... ... No, there is something that you have to pay him, love is going to put you in tune with what he needs, and you are going to give that young man a word of encouragement, gratitude, or respect because he is doing useful and important work. Love is the main law, brothers. Hopefully we can tell him, Christ make your love live in my heart always.
Love is the essence, it is what culminates everything. Many of the tips and lists in the Behavior Scripture always end with love as the culmination. Love is the pinnacle of all virtues.
But there is something even more important that I want to address before finishing and it is what remains of that passage, beginning with verse 11 to verse 14 and it is about the life of purity and holiness to the which God calls us as his children, and the treatment that the Apostle Paul gives to this subject is very beautiful, very important and captivated me and I want to share it with you. In verse 11, Romans 13 says, well let's go to 10
β....love does no harm to the neighbor so that fulfillment is love, -then it says- and this knowing the time that It is time to get up from sleep, because now our salvation is closer to us than when we believed. The night is advanced and the day is near, so let us discard the works of darkness and put on the weapons of light. Let us walk honestly as by day, not in gluttony and drunkenness, not in lusts and lasciviousness, not in strife and envy, but put on the Lord Jesus Christ and do not provide for the desires of the flesh.β
There are many texts like this where the believer is called to leave behind the behavior of a man without God, of a woman not treated by God, who does not know Jesus Christ, and to adopt a different life, a life radically different from the behavior of the man described by Paul, in fact in Chapters 1 and 2 of Romans. Those people who have run amok after sin, after vice, who have lost all shame, who have surrendered and rejoice with all those who sin and no longer have restraint, are consumed by a carnal appetite that leads them to do this and the other and they no longer have control and are totally removed from the life of God.
And Paul says, now you children of God who have been healed by God, by Christ Jesus, have the Holy Spirit within you, you have to live a very different life. And that's what's beautiful, and the approach that Pablo gives is very interesting, because he says:
β... and this, knowing the time...β
I I made a few notes here because I have some verses that I want you to notice about this, "knowing the time." What time? What is he talking about? He is talking about the fact of the coming of Jesus Christ. He is putting Christian behavior of purity and holiness and correctness in light of the fact that Christ is coming, that his coming is drawing near. How many believe that Christ will come and that he is coming soon? Amen.
The first Christians lived possessed by the idea that Christ was coming soon. Two thousand years later, that has kind of faded a bit, but I do believe, brothers, that Christ is at the gates. All the signs are there. And I believe that in any case the people of God always have to live expecting that Christ is going to come at any moment.
The Lord Jesus Christ told a parable, precisely, anticipating the fact that he was going to take his time, and Paul actually made a correction in another passage of those who believed that Christ was coming tomorrow and stopped working and they stopped doing this. And Paul said, no, no, that's not so easy, there are some clear signs, first the antichrist has to come, certain things have to happen, and then the Lord will come in his glory. Let's look at the times, let's look at the corruption of humanity, let's look at the speeding up of time, due to wars, rumors of war, famine, earthquakes. There was an earthquake recently in Mexico, global warming and a lot of things, nature rebels. There's a lot of things, it's all sort of accelerating in the history of humanity. Man is becoming more and more corrupt, further from God, more liberties are allowed, nature is in turmoil, nations are mutiny against each other, there are rebellions and revolutions everywhere. All this tells us that times are speeding up. The time is drawing near.
And I believe that this word of the Apostle Paul is more important than ever. One of the things that Paul focused on many times when he spoke of holiness and the life that we should lead was this: in the light of the coming of Jesus Christ, in the light of that eternity that is surrounding us and that is clinging to us every day. more, let us live a lifestyle that prepares us for that coming of Jesus Christ. Seize the time.
There is a hymn that has been with me... and unfortunately I don't think we have it, if we did it would fill my glass:
βSoon the night comes, time is to work. ..β
I don't remember the other words, but it's one of those old hymns that I want us to sing in our congregation because they are beautiful hymns and have so much meaning that they cannot be missed. But, the Apostle always said that we have to live life with one eye and one ear towards the second coming, towards that trumpet that will sound one day.
And so the Lord in his parable about the foolish virgins and the wise virgins, he said, don't be like those foolish virgins that when the bridegroom was supposed to come, they said, oh, he it will not arrive for now, because there was no television, there was no telephone, there was no Internet, there were no cell phones. When the groom arrived, for the wedding to take place, he might come from another village, another town, and people did not know what time he was going to arrive. He could arrive in the middle of the night and how many do you know, those who lived in camps in our countries? Sometimes we knew that a family member was coming but did not know what time they would arrive. Does anyone remember that? Ok, some at least dare to say yes. And you knew he was going to arrive but you didn't know what time, sometimes he arrived at 11 at night, sometimes at 1 in the morning, at 2 in the morning and you had to get up to make him a coffee or something and eat something before everyone goes to sleep. I see some smile at each other, they seem to know what I'm talking about.
That idea was even stronger and then the Lord said, 'don't be like those virgins who were already waiting for the wedding to take place and the bridegroom arrived with all his accompaniment and they were all there sleeping, and they had no oil, their lamps were not prepared to illuminate the night to receive the one who was going to be married. And so, so are we.
Does the Apostle Paul or Peter say that it will be as in Noah's day, or was it Jesus who said it? The fact is that it will be like the day of Noah. It's early, brothers, give me a break please. That they were eating, drinking, celebrating and the flood came and overwhelmed them all. This will be the second coming of Jesus Christ, and people will say those are fairy tales, that happened a long time ago, we must forget about that, these Christians have been saying for two thousand years that Jesus is coming and he has never appeared. Let's forget about it, that's a myth. But you know what? one day we will hear the trumpet blow and we will see, he says, that every eye will see him and he will come in the clouds, surrounded by his angels and his archangels and there will be people celebrating weddings and their parties and there will be wars, and people will be at their jobs, but it will be the moment in which God opened the letter and said to his Son, 'now it is, go and take the authority and receive everything that I have promised you and take what is yours'.
That day will come, and the word says, do not be surprised as the others are going to be surprised, but live lives that when the trumpet arrives, instead of going to hide under the stones like some will say, 'stone, hide us', you will say, 'Come, Lord Jesus, come, we are ready to wait for you. I am ready. I have my passport fixed, I have my visa and I have everything I need. Take me with you because we are prepared, we are living lives, we are redeeming time. We are doing what we have to do.
We don't have to be ashamed. We don't have to be afraid to look at the face. We do not have to fear appearing before his throne, because we know that we are covered with the blood of Jesus and we are working as much as we can to please our Heavenly Father. We're living lives to the fullest,...
Ah, the words of the hymn are ready, glory to God. We're going to sing it then, I hope I don't forget it after all this I've done. Amen.
So, brothers, he says, and this β...knowing the time that it is and the time to get up from sleep because now our salvation is closer to us than when we believed. Praise the Lord."
And that's true. It is closer because you converted perhaps a year, 10 days, a week ago, you are a little closer to the coming of Jesus Christ, so it is time to wake up from the dream. The Christian is not supposed to be sleeping, brothers. God likes diligent people, God likes hard-working and courageous people, people who are working for the Lord, people who are investing their time well, who are using their talents, using their money, using their profession, using their forces, working, advancing the Kingdom of God. So God wants you to live and I want to live.
We have to be living, brothers, like, hey, I know that this world is fleeting, everything that people kill themselves to accumulate and have, all of that is going to burn in a flash. moment. It says that the elements themselves will burn and the earth will melt, the clouds will melt, the atoms that make up the universe and matter will melt and God will have to make new heavens and a new earth. All the paintings of the great painters are going to melt and burn, all the big cars that people pay tens of thousands of dollars to buy are going to melt, the skyscraper buildings are going to come undone. The very matter, the stones, are going to melt like lava and everything is going to disappear so that God can make a heaven, an earth, a new atmosphere, that does not have even a stain of sin in it. And all the toils, and all the efforts, and all the tears, and everything over which people break down and kill each other, will cease to have meaning because all that system will have passed.
So we have to live understanding that, and we have to live lives consecrated to the Lord. What we live, what we do, what we invest, we have to do in light of that eternity in which we live, in light of what is going to happen. We cannot live as if this world is everything. We cannot live like people who are trapped in the bubble of time and space all their lives. We are beings of eternity. Glory to the Lord. And therefore we don't worry about little things that obfuscate and obsess men here. We know that all this is temporary, as the writer of Ecclesiastes says: "... vanity of vanities, everything is vanity."
He who is possessed by an eternal perspective and who knows that Christ will come one day and that his coming is sooner rather than later, has to live in a different way from how others live. We cannot live there loving our ATM, oh dear ATM, how I bless you bank account. Glorified be you, protected from every pastor who wants your money. No, we can't worship that machine. Our adoration is rendered to the eternal Christ, to the Christ who is the same yesterday, today, for centuries to come and to come. Hallelujah!
We have to live in light of that eternity. Yes, brothers, that means, that's why we have to make an effort, we have to live that life that God wants us to live, the night is advanced, says the Apostle Paul, and the day is drawing near. Glory to the Lord.
You know what? It seems that the sun is shining out there but it is spiritually night. The prince of darkness rules this world, darkness rules. The rulers of the darkness of this century, says the Apostle Paul. There is a spiritual darkness that governs this humanity. Economic systems, judicial systems, government systems, military systems are governed by a prince, a spirit, an attitude, a mentality that is not divine, it is not love, it is not generosity, it is not justice. It is not the holiness of God, it is a completely different economy from the one governed by humanity, it is the dark spirit that governs the heart and systems of man.
But, says the Apostle Paul, the day is drawing near. There is coming a time when the darkness will be cracked, it will be dispelled and the sun of God will shine on humanity for the rest of eternity. And that day is drawing near.
Then he says, β.....let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and put on the weapons of lightβ Glory to the Lord. there is the heart of that text, so let us discard the works of darkness and put on the weapons of light because the time is drawing near. It is not for us to live, brothers, asleep. Night is the time to sleep. We have to live, we are inhabitants of the day, not of darkness.
He also says a passage that I don't remember now, says that we are not from darkness but from light. What's more, he says, we are neither of the night nor of the darkness,
but we are of the light. I think it's First Thessalonians, 5:5 if I'm not mistaken. Let me see if it's still there.
"....because you are all children of light and children of the day, we are not of the night, nor of darkness..." Glory to the Lord.
You know that? You do not inhabit the darkness, the demons like to inhabit the darkness. How much evil and how much crime is done where? In the darkness Thieves wait for darkness. Cockroaches like darkness, yes or no? Therefore let us not sleep like others, but let us watch and be sober. All the vermin and harmful things, the snakes, the bad things, at night it is that they do their little shame. Go to the jungle, and when you read National Geographic, do you know when the big animals go hunting? At night. The night is where death dwells, where evil dwells, where sin dwells, where wickedness dwells.
And Paul says, you are not of the night or of darkness, you are people of light. The Christian has to be transparent. The Christian cannot live with hidden things, brothers, the Christian has to be there, his palm, his heart is in his hand. People must know what he is, what she is. You shouldn't be expecting that he's going to stab you in the back if you turn it over. The Christian must be a person whose yes is yes and his no is no, a person that you know you can trust with your life and your reputation, your name and your property and that person is going to have that as a treasure, because it is a frank person, is open, is of light, is not of darkness or night.
So, Paul calls us to a position of openness, of openness, of good behavior, of things that don't have to be hidden, not things that we have to repent of, but live lives that are open letters .
It says, β...let us walk honestly as in the day, not in gluttony and drunkenness, not in lust and lasciviousness, not in strife and envy...β
Go? He is showing what kind of behavior belongs to the darkness and the night. He is not making an exhaustive list of sins, but he says, these are the types of sin that people commit when they belong to darkness, when their nature is of darkness, of the devil, of hell, of the dark things to which you should not associate. Your behaviour, your life must be radically opposite to all of that.
So, there are many passages where it talks about this type of behavior that we should, as much as possible, avoid and ask the Lord to help us. Look at Ephesians, for example, Chapter 4, verse 17, says:
β...This then, I say and require in the Lord, that you no longer walk like other Gentiles, who walk in the vanity of their mind, having their understanding darkened, - do you see the darkness there? - oblivious to the life of God..."
He says further on "..... regarding the past way of living , put off the old man that is corrupted according to deceitful desires...β
Then another in Chapter 5 says, verse 3: β...but fornication, all uncleanness, covetousness, not even be Name among yourselves as befits saints, nor dishonest words, foolishness, and crooks that are not appropriate, but rather acts of grace, because you know this that no filthy, greedy, and idolatrous fornicator has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. so do not be partakers with them....β
It says, look, verse 8, it says β...because in another time you were darkness but now you are what? light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.....β
Verse 11, β.... and have no part in the unfruitful works of darkness but rather rebuke them....β βverse 13- β ..... plus all things when they are revealed by light, are made manifest because light is what manifests everything, for which it says, wake up, you who sleep and rise from the dead and Christ will light you up. Be careful then how you walk, not as fools, but as wise....β
Look again at this concept here: β..... taking advantage of what? the weather is good because the days are bad....β
Do you see the connection here between pure, holy behavior, pleasing to the Lord, awareness of the time that is passing, awareness that you have to take advantage of the time in good works because time is passing?
The idea is that: we have to invest our time in worthwhile things: learn more about the Lord, prepare to preach the Gospel, work for God's work, worship the Lord. I love those people who don't miss out, as they say, not even a dance of dolls. They are in the services on Wednesdays, on Sundays, sometimes they even stay for both services, they go out to all the prayer services there are, they are in the cells, discipleship, everything, and they don't miss anything because they love the Lord and are redeeming time. It's not that you have to do that necessarily but that's like a symbol of the level we have to live on. Time must be redeemed. You have to take advantage of the time: βwake up you who sleepβ.
Here we have to tell many, wake up. Tell your brother by your side, 'Wake up, you who sleep and Christ will light you up'. Glory to the Lord. Amen.
We have to wake up, we have to be active. We have to be dynamic. We have to invest. The Christian, brothers, is not called to waste life. I am going to ask the musicians to come over here quickly. Thanks brothers.
God calls us to enjoy but also calls us to invest and work hard for the Lord's work, to live a life of holiness and to live a life of activity. Oh how well that came out. Holiness and activity. Glory to the Lord. I'm inspired this morning.
You have to live a healthy life, which gives us strength, which helps us rest well. We have to eat healthy and good, reasonable food. We have to do our exercises, we have to invest time in good fun, healthy fun, listening to healthy music. If we are going to see a movie, let it be a healthy movie, and then we are going to be strong, joyful, energetic to serve the Lord and give him everything we have. Glory to God. That is beautiful.
It is a precious life, brothers, knowing that time is short, soon the night comes. One day the church is going to be persecuted possibly. There is already persecution of the church in many countries of the world. Here, even in this nation, there are already people who would love to persecute the church. There are many people who hate Christ and hate the church and that spirit of hatred of the Christian church is there waiting like a beast ready to pounce at any moment, and when the Lord gives him a bit of freedom he will do it and God He has his reasons for allowing that.
And the Apostle Paul says, work while you can. Live a holy life because the time is coming. Christian, do not forget about the second coming of Jesus Christ. Don't forget that Christ is coming. Do not forget that one day all this will perish. Do not forget that your citizenship is not in this country or in your native country, it is in heaven. Hallelujah! Your citizenship is eternity. You are a foreigner, you are a pilgrim here on earth. We are going to that city not built with hands, that heavenly homeland and therefore we have to live here as those who are simply waiting to be called.
When you go to the airport, are you constantly listening to any announcement, yes or no? to find out if there is something that is relevant to your trip. You are already checking the screen to see if your flight was changed or whatever. You're there looking at the time because you don't want your plane to miss, yes or no? This is how we have to live, from time to time looking up: will it be today that Christ comes? And I am living the life that will allow me to look at it and say, Lord, I am ready. Come Lord Jesus.
Let's live diligent lives. Let's live consecrated lives, let's live active lives. Let's live lives committed to the Lord, surrendered to the Lord so that we can be enthusiastic about the idea of the second coming of Jesus.
Let's stand up, brothers, today in your heart take a moment to renew in your spirit the sense of the coming of Christ. I have to do it, because one gets so involved in the worries of ministry and life, that it's easy... yes, he's going to come but who knows when and what this and what the other. No, no, we have to remember again: Christ is coming. Christ comes. Christ comes. And we have to say, come Lord Jesus.
One of the last words of the Scriptures is this: Come, Lord Jesus. We have to ask the Lord right now, ask Him right there in your heart, 'Father, remind me day after day that Christ is coming, while I'm at the office, at school, washing the dishes at home, while I'm cleaning the floor of my house. , while driving in the rush of 5 o'clock in the afternoon, and in the squeeze of the highway, that I can remember that Christ is coming soon. When I have to give my tithe, when I have to invest in the work of the Lord, when I have to work for you, when I have to do something that I don't want to do for you, Lord, help me to remember, Christ is coming soon. I have to redeem the time. I have to seize the time. I have to remember that the darkness is coming, that the day is coming soon when it will not be so easy to move and also that the day is coming when the light of Christ will explode and all the darkness of this world will be dispelled and replaced by that city that does not it needs sun because the presence of Christ, of God, shines.'
Hallelujah! So Father, seal us this morning with the awareness of the second coming of Jesus and help us to live at that level of purity, of integrity and of activity and diligence, Lord, to the glory of your name, living in love, living in holiness. , living in consideration of each other, Father, transparency, simplicity, simplicity. Those words so convenient for a child of yours, Lord. Thank you, we adore you and we bless you.
