Summary: There is a difference between going to church and having a relationship with God. Some people attend church to ease their conscience without truly following Jesus Christ. Being a true Christian means repenting of sins, accepting Christ as savior, and being willing to undergo a substantial change in behavior. When the Spirit of God enters a heart, it transforms us into a new person, modifying behavior, habits, relationships, priorities, and even the way we speak or dress. The greatest evidence of true conversion is a deep longing to be transformed according to God's will.

I would like to emphasize the fact that going to church and having a relationship with God are very different things. Sometimes people attend temples and thereby ease their conscience because they think that this is how they fulfill God. Afterwards, they live their life without worrying much about their behavior, whether it pleases God or not.

In Cuba we have experienced in recent years how people attend churches with much more ease and assiduity. Getting a temple filled when we had a special activity was a harrowing task years ago! But times have changed and people attend more easily. In the same way, many recognize and identify themselves as Christians with more freedom and less fear. However, it may be that some lightly declare themselves Christians without fully understanding or being willing to truly follow Jesus Christ.

There is a tremendous difference in being nominal Christians or being authentic Christians. For some, declaring themselves Christian is like putting on a suit that is worn and removed depending on the day or the place where it is, or the need that arises. The Bible says: So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold, all have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The person who claims to be a Christian must have repented of his sins by accepting Christ as his personal savior and, from that moment on, be willing or willing to undergo a substantial change in his behavior that goes beyond the mere fact of declaring himself a Christian. or Christian.

When the Spirit of God enters a heart, it begins to transform us into a new person, modifying our behavior, habits, relationships, feelings, priorities and of course, even the way we speak or dress.

It is impossible to know Christ and continue living as we did before inviting him to be the Lord of our lives. Although the process of learning to live as Christians is slow and in fact takes a lifetime, it does have an essential characteristic that is present in everyone who truly experiences a conversion to Christ: Our greatest desire is to act as God pleases and we repudiate everything that in our old life separated us from God and his love. Do you feel that? That deep longing to be transformed, more than the very habit of attending church, is the greatest evidence that a true conversion is taking place within you.

God bless you!
