The Truth Will Set You Free
God calls us to love him and to love our neighbor in a concrete, authentic, and responsible way. Our love for God is revealed in how we treat those close to us, even when their actions make us uncomfortable. It is not enough to say that we love; we must listen to how others experience our love and allow their perception to expose our contradictions.
We see life through the haze of experiences, judgments, impulses, and inner conversations that can distort reality. That is why we need to take our thoughts captive to Christ, examine our relationships honestly, and abandon the illusion that we are always right. Transformation entails an entirely new life, renewed moment by moment.
The Truth Will Set You Free
Love, transformation, and freedom require more than knowledge; they call us to listen as disciples, honestly examine our lives, and remain open to learning. Loving God and loving our neighbor are inseparable. We cannot measure love merely by our intentions, but must consider how those we claim to love actually experience us, even when their response challenges our view of ourselves.
We see life through the fog of personal experiences, judgments, emotions, impulses, and unconscious assumptions. Transformation comes as our minds are renewed and these inner barriers are brought into obedience to Christ. The truth that frees us is reality unveiled: instead of blaming others or depending on them to make relationships work, we take responsibility for living out our commitment to love.
