The 3 Spiritual Weapons—obedience, Prayer, and Complete Trust
Spiritual victory requires three weapons: obedience to the Word of God, intercessory prayer, and complete trust in his mighty hand. Just as Moses and Aaron obeyed even when facing Pharaoh, the sorcerers, and the oppression of Egypt, we too must remain sensitive and faithful to God’s voice. Such obedience reveals his power, enables others to recognize the true God, and makes us instruments for freeing those enslaved by sin and darkness, so that they may serve God.
We must also intercede without growing weary for family members, neighbors, and even those who serve the kingdom of darkness. When a hardened person asks for prayer, it may be the first sign of deliverance. Finally, our hope does not rest on our own strength, but on the God who brought Israel out of Egypt with a mighty hand and fought for his people. No bondage, addiction, or enemy power exceeds his authority. Therefore, we must surrender ourselves to Jesus Christ, reject witchcraft and fear, and ask to be obedient instruments who pray and trust in God so that others may be set free and his name glorified.
Obedience, Intercession, and Confidence in God
God gives believers three spiritual weapons for confronting oppression and helping people come into freedom: obedience to his Word, intercessory prayer, and confidence in his mighty power. Moses repeatedly did what God commanded, and through his obedience God exposed the weakness of Egypt’s spiritual powers, revealed himself as the true God, and delivered Israel so that the people could worship him. Likewise, our faithful obedience can testify to the living God and make us instruments of deliverance, even when people seem resistant or trapped by work, addictions, false worship, or other forms of bondage.
Intercession is essential. When Pharaoh began asking Moses to pray, it signaled that the enemy’s hold was weakening. We must therefore keep praying for family members, friends, coworkers, and even those involved in spiritual evil, trusting God to confuse and overthrow the enemy’s work.
The Task of Being a Father
The task of parenting requires us to govern our homes well by leading, guiding, and giving clear instruction—not by acting as dictators, but by serving in love. Fathers and mothers should work as a team, teaching children to respect their God-given authority; children, in turn, should obey, honor, and forgive their imperfect parents. Parents must also provide materially for their household and, when possible, help needy relatives and others. We must establish solid spiritual foundations by personally modeling love for God and making his Word part of everyday home life rather than leaving spiritual formation to one parent or merely sending children to church. Timely discipline is also necessary, but it must mean loving correction and instruction, never physical abuse or violent anger. Successful parenting depends upon God for wisdom, remains attentive to every need, participates actively in children’s lives and education, and seeks helpful counsel. Those without children can still support struggling parents. As we lead, provide, teach, and correct with love, our children can grow to walk in the Lord’s ways.
