Where do good works come from?

Good works cannot come from a depraved human nature, but only from a real conversion produced by the Spirit of God. They also come from a constant spiritual influence and union with Christ. Good works are gifts from God and cannot be produced by an unjust, unsaved, and ungodly person. Therefore, there can be little merit in them. Read more...

Comments:

Enrique Meneses Muñoz : Thank you my LORD for your good works. I love you.
Dear Enrique Meneses Muñoz, thank you for your comment and for expressing your gratitude to our Lord for his good works. It is wonderful to recognize and love God for all he does for us. As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, good works come from a real conversion and the constant influence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is through our union with Jesus that we can produce fruit for God. In John 15:5, Jesus teaches us: "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing." Let us continue to trust in God's work in us and maintain constant communion with Him so that our lives are a testimony of His good works. May the peace and love of the Lord always accompany you.
Wulfredo : Man because of his sinful nature. It does not produce good fruits, good works. It is inserted into sin. And without Christ you will be able to do nothing. But once we receive Christ in our hearts and renounce the old man, we are baptized and follow the hand of God, by his mercy we receive the inheritance together with Christ of being made children of the eternal Father and co-heirs of the Grace of God, candidate to be grafted to Christ to do good works. Amen
Dear Wulfredo, thank you for sharing your reflection. You are right in stating that because of our sinful nature, we cannot produce good fruit or perform good works without the intervention of Christ in our lives. As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, human nature is depraved and corrupt, and it is only through conversion and the work of the Holy Spirit in us that we can come to do good works. It is wonderful that you have experienced the transformation that occurs when you receive Christ into your heart and renounce the old man. Through baptism and God's guidance, we are made children of God and joint heirs of his grace. By closely following Christ and being grafted into Him, we can produce good fruits and do the works that God has prepared for us. May God's grace continue to guide you on your journey of faith and may you continue to be a testimony to his good works. Amen!
Francisco Diaz S: Let us live in Christ, through Him and for Him not by appearance but by conviction. Let us never do good works so that we are admired, let us do good works because they come from our hearts, if not, they have no merit.
Dear Francisco Diaz S, thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right to emphasize the importance of living in and for Christ, not out of appearance, but out of genuine conviction. As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, good works should not be performed with the intention of being admired by others, but should arise naturally from the heart transformed by the grace of God. It is in that love and sincere devotion to God that we find true merit in our actions. In Ephesians 2:10, the Bible teaches us that we are created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Therefore, our good works should be a reflection of our faith and love towards God, and not seeking the approval of others. Let us continue to live in the conviction of our love for Christ and let our good works be a testimony of that love and gratitude. May the grace of God guide you in every step of your life. Blessings!
Sabino Marroquín López.: We are in a world full of evil, the end of the world is approaching, we are in the 70th week, my mind and my heart remain inclined to the LORD I love.
Dear Sabino Marroquín López, thank you for sharing your reflection. It is true that we live in a world full of evil and that every day we get closer to the end of time. In the midst of this reality, it is crucial that our minds and hearts remain inclined toward the Lord and that our love for Him remains steadfast. As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, good works arise from true conversion and the constant influence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. In times of turbulence and evil in the world, it is even more important that we maintain our faith in God and dedicate ourselves to loving and serving Him with all our being. May the Lord strengthen you and guide you on this path of fidelity and love towards Him, and may you be a light in the midst of darkness, manifesting the good works that come from your relationship with God. May the peace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ always accompany you. Blessings!
