Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. (Psalm 131:2)
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)

An attitude of total humility and total surrender to the Will of the Father

The attitude of complete humility, subjection, and surrender to the Lordship and the Will of God is crucial for us to be useful servants and to be promoted in the Kingdom of God. When we recognize our smallness and insignificance before God's sovereignty and submit to Him sincerely, God is encouraged to bless and use us. This attitude is seen throughout Scripture, such as in Psalm 131 where David describes himself as a child weaned from his mother, recognizing his total dependence on God. God is pleased when we recognize His greatness and lordship and cultivate an attitude of fragility and total need for Him. We must also recognize our smallness before the power of God. The parable of the useless servant reminds us to consider ourselves as servants even when we have done everything God has commanded us. Read more...

Thank you, Ma Esther, for your comment. It is true, the preaching of Dr. Roberto Miranda invites us to have an attitude of submission, humility and total surrender towards the Lord. As the psalmist mentions in Psalm 131:2, we must still our soul and be like a weaned child in its mother's lap, recognizing our fragility and total dependence on God. Furthermore, as Jesus says in Matthew 18:3, we must convert and act like children to enter the kingdom of heaven. May the Lord help us cultivate this attitude of humility and submission in our daily lives. Amen!

Thank you, Aurora Palacios, for your comment. It is true, obedience to God is fundamental in our Christian life. As you mention, verse 1 Samuel 15:22 teaches us about the importance of obeying God instead of seeking our own way. We are glad that this devotional has been a daily manna for you. Wulfredo : With what I justify myself before the Lord. If he knows everything, my word is not yet on my language and he already knows everything. He is God of god, Lord of lords and his name is above every name. Who am I before Him. Amen
That's right, Wulfred. Before the greatness and omniscience of God, we have no justification for ourselves. As you mention, God knows everything, even before our words are on our tongue. He is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, and his name is above every name. Before His majesty and greatness, we must recognize our smallness and total dependence on Him. Amen to that. May God continue to reveal his greatness and love in your life.
Francisco Diaz S.: The pride of man, his power and his self-sufficiency ends with death, after death his remains remain and the spirit of the humble transcends to the glory of the Father and the spirit of the proud becomes dull and fades away.- Humility is sublime , pride poisons the soul.
You are absolutely right, Francisco Diaz S. The pride, power and self-sufficiency of man are ephemeral and fade with death. However, humility is sublime and transcends beyond this world. As you mentioned, the spirit of the humble rises to the glory of the Father, while the spirit of the proud becomes dull and fades away. Humility allows us to recognize our total dependence on God and opens the doors to receive his blessing and grace. May the Lord help us to always cultivate an attitude of humility in our lives. Blessings!
