The Winning Attitude - Defining Your Dreams (Part 3)
Dr. Roberto Miranda(Audio: Spanish)
SUMMARY:
The sermon is about the importance of specificity in achieving success. Using James 1:5, the speaker emphasizes the need to ask God for what is specifically needed, rather than coming with vague requests. He says that being clear and specific about one's dreams and goals is important because God is a specific being who appreciates clarity. Jacob is cited as an example of someone who had a clear vision and achieved success. The speaker also emphasizes the importance of defining one's talents and limitations in order to achieve success.
The speaker discusses the importance of defining dreams and pursuing them with determination. He uses the story of Jacob and Esau to illustrate how God honors defined dreams and the effort put into achieving them. The speaker emphasizes the need for prayer and depositing one's desires in a cup of prayer to accumulate and refine them. He also highlights the importance of bringing a raw material, such as defining one's dreams, to God for him to bless. The speaker notes that God values human dignity and free will, which is why he wants people to define their dreams and work in partnership with him. He encourages his audience to be daring and specific in pursuing their dreams, as God honors those who are well-defined and determined.
The speaker discusses the importance of defining one's goals and dreams in order to achieve success. They use the story of the disciples bringing five loaves and two fish to Jesus to illustrate the concept that we must offer a part of ourselves to God first in order for him to bless us. The speaker also emphasizes the importance of experimentation and failure in the process of success, using the example of Moses and Nehemiah. They encourage listeners to take classes and surround themselves with people who encourage them in their dreams, and to live with an appetite for success.
The sermon is about how to achieve success in life by being specific and living with a clear goal. The speaker uses the story of Nehemiah from the Bible to illustrate how he had a clear vision of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem and was specific in his requests to the king. He also emphasizes the importance of creating connections, defining goals, and being specific in requests to God. The speaker encourages young people to set specific goals, strive for excellence, and pay the price for success. He concludes by sharing the story of the Shunammite woman who built a room for the prophet Elisha and received her heart's desire because of her specific vision and excellence.
The story of Elisha and the Shunammite woman teaches us the importance of being specific and building a space for the Lord in our lives. We need to present specific dreams to God and take concrete steps of excellence and effort towards them. God wants to bless us and bring beautiful things into our lives, but we need to be specific and committed. Let us embrace a life of definition and specificity, and be a community that pleases God through our excellence and effort. We should not fear or dismay, but make an effort and be brave, trusting that God is with us wherever we go.James, Chapter 1 and I am going to use that text, because we could use several others that way, but I think that in particular lends itself to the spirit of what we want to present this afternoon, verse 5, James 1:5, says: "and if any of you... What Santiago is saying here can be any request, in this case he is talking about wisdom but it can be anything else, any other request.
It says "if any of you lacks wisdom - what does he say? - ask God, who gives abundantly to all without reproach and it will be given to him."
