Be still, and know that I am God

SUMMARY: In Psalm 46, the key text of Palm Sunday, the prophetic Word of Zechariah 9:9 is echoed. The message is about waiting for our King and Redeemer to rescue us from various struggles in our lives. But, the question is, would we recognize Him when He arrives? The speaker shares his personal lesson of learning to be still before the Lord, which is more difficult than it may seem. God showed him what being still was not, which included not worrying or fearing and not doing anything hastily. Abraham and Sarah's story of Ishmael's birth is used as an example of how we can create Ishmaels in our despair. The speaker emphasizes the need to trust in God's timing and to wait patiently for Him to come to our rescue.

In times of despair, we may create an Ishmael, a mistake born out of rash decisions. We must let God fight our battles and not hold onto negative thoughts or grudges, as it poisons our hearts. Being still means letting go of control and knowing that God is in charge. We need to know the great I am and let Him show us His glory in difficult situations. Our King has arrived, and we must be waiting for Him.

Psalm 46, as you open that Psalm and we're going to consider almost the entire Psalm today, welcome to Palm Sunday here, Palm Sunday, and as we open Psalm 46 the key text of Palm Sunday I believe is Zechariah 9:9 TRUE? "Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion, shout for joy, daughter of Jerusalem, behold, your King will come to you just and savior, humble and riding on a donkey, on a donkey's colt."

Now, I don't think much is required, while I am developing this message you will see where the prophetic Word pronounced by my sister Ibelice fits in, but I imagine that many of us are here waiting. The Lord brought you to the Lion of Judah Congregation today and if so, welcome, waiting, praying that our King appears at once and rescues us. It may be that it rescues us from a financial crisis or perhaps a health situation, a loved one fighting cancer or another terrible disease, such as a relationship, your marriage perhaps, siblings or friends who no longer speak to each other, a brother in a faraway land who doesn't return his text, his whatsapp right? That happens in families, a daughter or a son who perhaps has kept you awake for a while now and you are praying that your Redeemer arrives now and comes to your rescue, if you are in that, welcome to the club.
