When God speaks, it may not always be what we want to hear, but we must trust in His plan. This week of prayer and fasting is an opportunity to put everything aside and listen to what God has to say.
God wants to talk to us individually and we need to make time to listen. We should be willing to rest and receive new orders from God. We should also follow our leaders and serve in whatever capacity God has given us. When we listen to God's voice and act on it, our words will not fall to the ground. We should put a zipper on our mouth and start listening to God's call for our lives. We can rest in the hands of the Almighty and trust Him to fight for us. Something big is coming for the church and we need to be ready to receive new orders from God.

And one of the things that strikes me in this passage is that the social situation in which the people of Israel were then is very similar to today.
God had called Eli as high priest and under his ministry he had the responsibility of educating, preparing, and training that legacy of priests who would be working with the people every day. That was his responsibility. But one of the problems that we have always had as human beings is that we don't know how to listen. We hear, but we do not listen.
