Proverbs 16:3 • James 4:13-14
We spread the map on the pine-wood table Mark the road to the city line Says, "I’ll buy and sell and fill my barn And make that silver mine." But don't you know, oh boastful man You don't hold the keys to the rising sun? To plan your year without the King Is a race that can’t be won. (Oh, it can’t be won)
What is your life? Just a vapor Like the mist on the mountainside Here for a moment in the morning light Then there’s nowhere left to hide. So hush your boasting and bend your knee Let the prideful spirit break and spill We only live and we only move If the Good Lord wills.
The Good Book says to roll your works Like a stone you cannot carry Roll it off your shoulder, son On the Lord, and do not tarry. Just like a seal upon the wax Let Him claim what you have done You work the field like the busy ant But let Him steer the sun. (Yeah, let Him steer the sun)
What is your life? Just a vapor Like the mist on the mountainside Here for a moment in the morning light Then there’s nowhere left to hide. So hush your boasting and bend your knee Let the prideful spirit break and spill We only live and we only move If the Good Lord wills.
I want to be like a weaned child Resting quiet on his mother’s arm Not crying out for what I want But safe away from harm. I ain't the Master, I ain't the Boss I’m just a servant at the door If He takes my breath or He gives me wealth I won’t ask for anymore.
No "Pitch Deck" pride, no arrogant way! Tomorrow is a secret, we only have today!
What is your life? Just a vapor Like the mist on the mountainside Here for a moment in the morning light Then there’s nowhere left to hide. So hush your boasting and bend your knee Let the prideful spirit break and spill We only live and we only move If the Good Lord wills.
If the Lord wills, we’ll draw a breath. If the Lord wills, we’ll cheat death. If the Lord wills... Amen.
