Exodus 32:1 • Matthew 14:31
When the mountain seems too high, and the leader disappears Or the waves crash all around, whispering my deepest fears My eyes drift from the shore, to the storms that rage inside And the anchor of my faith, feels like it has nowhere to hide Like Peter on the water, when the wind began to blow I saw the chaos all around, and started sinking, sinking low
Oh, my soul, wherefore did you doubt? Why let shadows cast you out? Take your eyes from the churning tide, place them on the One who died He's the keeper of your soul, making broken spirits whole He dispels the darkest night, with His ever-shining light.
Fear and doubt, a twin attack, try to steal my peace away Even prayers can feel so weak, clouded by the coming day Building monsters in my mind, from the weakness that I see Forgetting grace, forgetting power, forgetting You're enough for me I look within, I look around, at my frail and human frame Instead of lifting up my eyes, and calling on Your holy name.
Oh, my soul, wherefore did you doubt? Why let shadows cast you out? Take your eyes from the churning tide, place them on the One who died He's the keeper of your soul, making broken spirits whole He dispels the darkest night, with His ever-shining light.
Don't lose your confidence, though the world may try to shake There's a great reward for those, who refuse to let faith break Simple faith, day by day, firm and steady, true and strong It will chase the shadows far, where they never can belong From my weakness, from my self, I turn my gaze to You alone On Your power, on Your promise, Your unwavering throne.
Oh, my soul, never will I doubt! No more shadows cast me out! Take my eyes from the churning tide, fix them on the One who died You're the keeper of my soul, making broken spirits whole You dispel the darkest night, with Your ever-shining light.
Just look to Him... only to Him... His hand will hold you, somehow. Faith will guide you home. Never doubt Him now.
