Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. (Numbers 23:20)
For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? (Romans 11:24)

Shema Israel

God chose Israel as a nation to bless the world and Christians are the branches grafted onto the olive tree of God. Jesus added to the Shema, commanding to love God and love one's neighbor. It is important for Christians to intercede for peace in Israel and Jerusalem without prejudice. Israel has not lost all blessing and God's plan for them is irrevocable. The Shema brings new winds of God's mercy for Jews and Gentiles. The promise of the Most High to the patriarch still stands. Read more...

Comments:

Carlos A. Borja Flores: This devotional tells us great truth to Christians, when Father Faustino de Jesús Zamora Vargas says, There is a certain tendency among the people of God to think that Israel has lost all blessing due to its disbelief in not recognizing Jesus Christ, the Messiah; and that the church is substitute and deserving of the promises that God has prepared for Israel. Christians are wild olive trees inserted in the root that is Israel (Romans 11 13ff.)
What an interesting reflection, Carlos! It is true that the relationship between the church and the people of Israel is often misunderstood. As Faustino de Jesús Zamora Vargas mentions, in Romans 11 Christians are compared to branches grafted onto a cultivated olive tree, reminding us that we should not underestimate the importance of the people of Israel in God's plan. It is essential to understand this connection to value the continuity of divine promises. Thanks for sharing your comment!
