Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. (Ecclesiastes 11:1)
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9)
Charles Spurgeon

Someday we will reap what we have sown

We should not expect immediate rewards for doing good, and we should not limit our efforts to those who we think will reward us. Like the Egyptian who throws seeds into the Nile, we must trust that our good deeds will bear fruit in due time. We must do good to the ungrateful and teach the stubborn, even if it seems improbable. God will fulfill His promise, and we will reap what we have sown, even if it takes time. Our job is to be patient and faithful in doing good. Read more...

Carlos A. Borja Flores: Thank God for this devotional, especially for those of us who are impatient; and, we limit our efforts to places and people
What a blessing it is to find comfort and wisdom in this beautiful devotional by Charles Spurgeon! It is true that we can often feel impatient when we do not see immediate results from our actions, but as Spurgeon reminds us, we must not become discouraged. In Galatians 6:9 we are exhorted: "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time, if we do not grow weary, we will reap." Let us keep faith in God, who promises that in the end we will reap what we sow. Let us wait patiently for His perfect timing!
Samuel Cuadros Acosta : Thank you very much, beloved brothers, for the reflection on the Word of God, which reminds me that I must not STOP being generous, without respect, without preferences, despite ingratitude. It reminds me that I must also be patient and wait in faith, that the Harvest comes according to the GRACE of God and his promises. Help me Holy Spirit
What a beautiful reflection, Samuel. It is inspiring to see your desire to maintain generosity and patience despite ingratitude or lack of immediate results. As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, we must continue to sow good, even in challenging circumstances, trusting that God will keep His promise. In Ecclesiastes 11:1 we are encouraged to "Cast our bread upon the waters, for after many days we will find it." May the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen you on your path of faith and service. God bless you!

Amen, Beatriz! What a beautiful reminder of God's eternal goodness and mercy. His faithfulness endures throughout all generations, and His unfailing love sustains us at all times. As God's Word teaches us, in Psalm 136:1, "Praise the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endures forever." May we rest in His goodness and trust in His constant love. May the peace and grace of God be with you always! πŸ™
Alejandra : Beautiful reflection. Thank you
What a joy to know that you have found inspiration in this reflection, Alejandra. Sometimes, wise words from authors like Charles Spurgeon can illuminate our path and remind us of the importance of patience and faith in the midst of our daily struggles. As Spurgeon reminds us in his devotional, "Our job is to cast our bread into the waters; it is up to God to fulfill the promise: 'You will find it.'" Francisco Diaz S.: When we do a work of charity, let's not expect a reward, let's give out of love because love blossoms and bears fruit. - We will have the first satisfaction when we heal an injured person or when we satisfy a hungry person or when we help a needy person. - We are special people. , Angels of the Lord
What a beautiful message, Francisco. It is true that when we act with love and compassion, we sow seeds of goodness that will soon bear fruit in the lives of those who receive our help. In the words of Charles Spurgeon, our actions can seem like casting bread into the waters, seemingly without immediate reward, but trusting that God will keep His promise. As you mention, the satisfaction of helping others and being instruments of blessing in the hands of God is in itself a valuable reward. May God continue to strengthen your generous heart and use you as a channel of His love and grace. Blessings in abundance! πŸ™

What a wonderful reflection, Ruth! Sowing in obedience and fidelity to God allows us to trust in His provision and the harvest that He has prepared for us. As Galatians 6:9 reminds us, "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time, if we do not grow weary, we will reap." We trust that God will honor our work and bless us abundantly.
