As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, the fire of the furnace is part of the refining process that God uses to purify us and transform us into something precious. In Zechariah 13:9, we are assured that God will refine us as silver is refined and test us as gold is tested. Although fire can be painful, it is important to remember that this process leads us to the fullness of our faith. In 1 Peter 1:7, we are told that the testing of our faith results in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Instead, we must sacrifice our worldly appetites and seek the greatness of the Lord, who will fill us fully and forever.
