We need to be aware of the unknown forces within us, which often come from our subconscious. We must ask the Holy Spirit for discernment to identify our character flaws and work to control them. As people with chronic health conditions, we must keep our condition in view and take appropriate steps to keep it under control. The lack of self-knowledge and introspection can lead to problems in our personality. We may have to struggle with our internal deformations for a long time, exploring them in the light of the Word and submitting to God. Sometimes, God will allow us to struggle with our weaknesses for a specific purpose. This struggle can be a benevolent opponent, drawing us closer to Him and keeping us humble. The example of the Apostle Paul's thorn shows that our weaknesses can remind us of our dependence on God's mercy and protect us from spiritual pride. We should rejoice in our weaknesses because when we are weak, we are strong in Christ.
