Solemn Assembly October 4, 2008: When the salt is gone - what?
Paul Jehle(Audio: English)
SUMMARY:
The speaker, Paul Jehle, discusses the need for the church to take responsibility for the state of the nation. He points out that when the majority of Americans attended church and the true gospel was preached, the nation was able to acknowledge and repent of its sins. However, today only 45% of Americans attend church and many churches no longer preach the true gospel. This has resulted in a decline of moral values and a lack of a biblical worldview among believers.
Jehle emphasizes the importance of the church being the "pillar and ground of the truth" and how the condition of the church is reflected in the culture. He stresses that the church needs to be active in social justice, willing to sacrifice for others, and not just blend in with the culture.
The speaker also acknowledges the hypocrisy of the church, such as living in debt and not being responsible with finances, and the need for repentance. He affirms the forgiveness and righteousness offered through Christ and the importance of living according to the word of God.
Jehle concludes by quoting the vision and mission of the Pilgrims and early settlers of Massachusetts, who sought to bring the gospel to the world and live according to God's standards. He encourages listeners to choose life and good, and to be a shining example of God's love and truth to the world.
The speaker talks about the importance of repentance and renewal of covenant with God, as done by the forefathers of America. He urges the audience to pray for purification of their hearts and for the grace of God to come upon them, so that they may become true intercessors for themselves, for one another, for New England and for America. He ends with a prayer for repentance and renewal of covenant with God.Is it good to gather together? The Bible does tell us in Psalm 33:12 that blessed is the nation whose God has the Lord. And the people he has chosen for his own inheritance.
My name is Paul Jehle and I’m representing Massachusetts. You see, God makes his declaration in his word that he doesn’t just tell us a nation is blessed when God is its Lord, he tells us how the nation is blessed and how you know God is the Lord, it’s the condition of the people he’s chosen for his inheritance. If his people are right with him, it means God is the Lord of that nation, if his people are not right with him, then the nation is cursed, the responsibility lays at the door the God’s people, not at the door of the sinner, but at the ones who know they’re sinners saved by grace.
