SUMMARY: The King of Israel in this story is an impious ruler who blames Elisha for the misery his nation is going through, rather than acknowledging their sin and seeking mercy from God. However, even though he rejects God, he still has a kernel of faith that can be exploited. The Church is being called to speak to the instinctive fear of God that is still present in our rulers and nations, and use it to call them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. May the time come when the Church has the power of God to declare His judgment on the nations and bring about repentance.

It is interesting that the King of Israel, Joram, instead of repenting and looking for the solution in Jehovah and acknowledging that they have sinned, does the opposite and is filled with anger and blame Elisha and by extension I would say blame God also for the misery your nation is living in.

Let me focus on the person of the King of Israel. The king is an unjust man, a man devoid of piety, he is not a God-fearing man, he has done evil in the eyes of God, he is an impious ruler practically and partly because of the impiety of that king who contaminates his people This nation is in the crisis it is in.
