The Father will honor those who follow His Son
Charles SpurgeonThe highest service is imitation. If I want to be the servant of Christ, I must be His follower. Doing as Jesus did is the surest way to honor His name. I have to keep this in mind every day.
If I imitate Jesus, I will have His company: if I am like Him, I will be with Him. In due time He will take me on high to abide with Him above, if, in the meantime, I endeavor to follow Him here below. After His suffering our Lord came to His throne, and, in the same way, after we have suffered a little with Him here below, we too will come to glory. The condition of our Lord's life will be the condition of our life: if we are with Him in His humiliation, we will be with Him in His glory. Come on, my soul, take courage and place your feet in the footprints marked with blood that your Lord has left for you.
I must not fail to observe that the Father will honor those who follow His Son. If He sees that I am faithful to Jesus, He will put signs of favor and honor on me because of His Son. No honor can be like this. Princes and emperors bestow mere shades of honor; the substance of glory comes from the Father. Therefore, my soul, hold fast to the Lord Jesus more firmly than ever.
