Samuel Caraballo: Testimony of Healing

Summary: At the age of twelve, I was diagnosed with a congenital kidney disease that had already caused the deaths of family members. During a prayer service in Puerto Rico, we prayed for healing, and twelve years later, I have no kidney problems whatsoever. This answer to prayer confirms that the Lord has plans for our lives beyond illness and that he can heal, break chains, and give us abundant life. He does not promise a life without pain or problems, but rather that he will walk beside us through every situation. Therefore, we can trust him and praise him at all times, both in sickness and in joy, recognizing him as the giver of life and the source of salvation, hope, and joy.
More than 12 years ago, in a month like this one, I was diagnosed with a problem with my kidneys, a kidney problem at the age of 12, and I still remember as if it were today the prayer we prayed during a prayer service at my church in Puerto Rico. And the Lord truly answered that request: 12 years later, there is nothing wrong with my kidneys.
It was a congenital disease. My grandmother died from kidney disease, my uncle died from kidney disease, and so, when they discovered that I had the same disease, the first thing was that everyone was like, “Wow, here we go into another trauma.”
The Lord has plans for your life beyond the illnesses you may have. And if you see me here joyful, it is because 12 years ago I may have been sad. And perhaps on a night like this you may be sad or feel helpless, but let me tell you that the Lord is almighty to heal our diseases, break our chains, and give us life.
The word of the Lord says in John, chapter 10, that the Lord came to give us life, and life abundantly. So every time we sing, “I will praise You, I will glorify You,” we are telling the Lord, “I know that Your life is in my hands, and I will glorify You at all times; at all times I will praise You, in sickness and in joy, because I know that You hold my life and that the days I have on this earth are numbered. And I know that in every situation You have promised—not that I will have no pain; He has not promised that you will have no problems; He has promised that in every problem, in every situation, He would be with you side by side.”
That is why we sing to the Lord, “I will praise You, I will glorify You; forever I will praise You, because You are the giver of life.” If you can say to the Lord, “You are the giver of life,” let us sing this song to the Lord.
