Cuba has experienced more than the social revolution for which it is known. Since the 1990s, it has been experiencing a spiritual revolution: churches and other religious communities are growing, new congregations are forming, and many Christians gather fervently in homes.
Popular religiosity may speak of God and preserve Christian customs without knowing the Bible or truly beholding Christ. In Cuba, this superficial faith was followed by an atheism that sought to exclude and replace God; nevertheless, God never abandoned the island and today strengthens his people there.
I grew up in a Cuba where submitting to God seemed humiliating, and many abandoned the faith for materialism. People exalted humanity’s ability to achieve its own redemption, while the Bible was read less and less and some proclaimed the end of the churches.
God brings about change when hearts humble themselves. For decades, the Christian people of Cuba have sought his face and prayed for those in authority without losing hope.
I celebrate the spiritual depth of the contributions received and hope they will encourage broader participation. Our vision is to form a safe online community where believers and those who are just beginning their spiritual journey can get to know one another, love and support one another, and pray for one another.
Prayer and fasting are the church’s most powerful weapons for spiritual warfare, cultural transformation, revival, and mercy. God-given dreams can awaken faith, reveal our calling, and move us to pray persistently until heavenly purposes become earthly realities.
