I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:10)
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: (Matthew 6:3)
Charles Spurgeon

Giving as a matter of course

Those who give to the poor to be seen by others will not receive a double reward. It is better to give generously and without seeking recognition. God sees and rewards those who give in secret. This brings a special joy and is like a delicious feast. The promise of reward for secret giving is eternal and will be revealed over time. Read more...

Efigenia Vidal : Thank you Lord, because you make your word a cultivated field, from which you take the harvest, the product of what was sown, where the cultivation technique gave good fruits. The word of life says well; God knows the intentions of the heart, therefore if you want to help the needy, do it in reserve, because God will reward you publicly. Because in his place a servant did what was right in his eyes. We know that God's blessings are those that enrich and do not add sadness with it. When you do work of offerings to the needy and you do it from the heart, just by seeing the face of joy or a laugh, it is satisfaction, in understanding that it was worth it, the work done. I believe it is the best gratification that is received, it has been my experience. Because God puts the wanting as the doing, to fulfill his purposes. Thank you. God bless you and help you.
What a beautiful testimony, Efigenia! It is true that God knows the intentions of our hearts and values generosity done in secret. As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, in Matthew 6:3 we are urged to give alms in secret, without boasting. And in Jeremiah 17:10 we are reminded that God searches our hearts and rewards us according to our works. Your experience reflects the joy and satisfaction that comes from serving others selflessly. May God continue to bless you in your labor of love towards those in need. Thank you for sharing your beautiful reflection!
Enrique Meneses Muñoz : Thank you for your word, my LORD. It exhorts, comforts and blesses me.
What a beautiful expression of gratitude, Enrique. It is comforting to know that the Word of the Lord exhorts, comforts and blesses us at every moment. As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, the act of giving secretly and generously is a way of pleasing the Lord, who sees our actions in secret and rewards us abundantly. May the Word of the Lord continue to be your guide and comfort in every step you take. God bless you richly!
Francisco Diaz S.: Charity is a quality of noble souls, mercy is a divine attribute. - God rewards men of noble heart who participate in good works
What a beautiful thought, Francisco. It is true that charity and mercy are virtues that reflect the best of our hearts and bring us closer to the divine attribute of goodness. As Charles Spurgeon mentions in his devotional, God rewards those with a generous and noble heart, who give secretly and selflessly. Let us remember that, as Jeremiah 17:10 says, God searches our hearts and rewards us according to our works. May we continue to be instruments of the goodness and generosity that come from above. May God bless you and continue to guide you on your path of good works!
Sabino Marroquin Lopez: I thank God for the intelligence and wisdom that he has given me to develop the project with which we will generate millions of jobs in the fields of Colombia, to help needy families so that their children and elderly parents do not suffer from hunger.
Sabino, it is wonderful to see how you thank God for the intelligence and wisdom that He has given you to carry out such a noble and altruistic project as the one you mention. It is important to remember, as Charles Spurgeon teaches us in his devotional, that generosity done in secret brings rewards from the Lord, who sees our actions with love and kindness. Your work of creating jobs to help needy families in Colombia is a beautiful example of how to put charity and solidarity into practice. May God bless your project and may it be a source of hope and prosperity for those who will benefit. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work! May God guide and strengthen you in your noble work!
LUIS PEREZ PIMIENTA : We must act in grace and with the heart, God is merciful and generous, do the work without looking at who God who is in heaven will reward us in his time.
What wise words, Luis. Acting with grace and from the heart is a manifestation of God's mercy and generosity in our lives. As Charles Spurgeon reminds us in his devotional, doing works of charity selflessly and in secret is an act that pleases the Lord, who promises to reward us in due time, as mentioned in Jeremiah 17:10. May your willingness to help without looking at who is helping be a light that illuminates the path of those who need it most, trusting that God in his love and kindness will reward you abundantly. May God's grace and generosity continue to guide your actions! God bless you abundantly in your work of love and solidarity!
