And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
(Genesis 32:26)When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
(Mark 5:27) We have to do our part if we want to receive something from the Lord
This passage from Mark 5:25-34 tells the story of a woman who takes a superhuman effort and risks to seek the blessing of Jesus Christ. In the culture of her time, she was considered impure and not supposed to be in a crowd contaminating those around her. However, she breaks with the protocols of her time and throws herself in the middle of the crowd to touch the hem of Jesus' robe, knowing she had to do her part in receiving the blessing. This woman's story teaches us that God does not do everything, and there is a part that we too will have to do to receive the blessing. When the effort of the man pregnant with faith meets the blessing of God, that combination makes an atomic bomb that brings the blessing we are looking for. May God wish that each of us can do our part even if we do not feel the desire to do so, knowing that this is what He needs many times to bless us.
