Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way? (Proverbs 20:24)
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: (1 Peter 2:21)

Imitating Christ - The Calling

The Christ that came to Latin America from Europe was a sad and graceless Christ, only inspiring compassion and pity. We need to imitate the living Christ, the Redeemer who gives new life, forgives sins and sorrows, and brings peace. Christ has given us an identity, and to know Him is to know who we are called to imitate. Paul urged us to imitate him as he imitated Christ. Today, many people claim to follow Christ, but how many try to imitate him? Only Christ is worthy of imitation, and we have been called to imitate him. God bless us on this spiritual journey. Wulfredo Benitez: Who do I identify with? With the Christ who presents us with the Roman Empire, or the Christ who reveals to us the Holy Scriptures. We must imitate the living and redeeming Christ, who gives us a new life, forgives our sins and offers us peace. Through Him we obtain our spiritual salvation. Amen.
Your reflection is interesting, Wulfredo. In the devotional of Faustino de Jesús Zamora Vargas, the importance of imitating the living and redeeming Christ is highlighted, the one who gives us a new life and offers us peace. Let us remember what it says in 1 Peter 2:21: "For to this you have been called, for Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example so that you should follow in His steps." Let us seek to identify with and follow this Christ who offers us redemption and spiritual salvation. May God bless you on your path of imitating Christ!

What an accurate reflection, Carlos. It is true that in today's world many people seek to identify themselves with public figures or earthly idols, but as you mention, this can lead to a disordered and empty life. What a powerful reflection, Francisco. Imitating Christ in an authentic way, without a mask, is a profound call to live a genuine faith that is coherent with the spiritual principles that bring us closer to God. As you mention, it is important to examine our conscience, recognize our faults and ask for forgiveness for those things that are not in line with the example that Jesus left us.
