And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. (Matthew 10:42)

We should give to the poor out of compassion and not for personal gain or recognition. We should not expect repayment or gratitude, but rather see it as a loan to the Lord. The promise of payment from the Lord is worth more than gold and silver. If we have been stingy towards the poor, we should ask for forgiveness. Read more...

Comments:

Enrique Meneses Muñoz : I know I have something in the LORD's account. I use part of it at every moment. My GOD is wonderful to me. I adore you JESUS.
What a beautiful comment, Enrique. It is wonderful to recognize that everything we do out of love for our neighbor is like lending to the Lord Himself. As Charles Spurgeon's devotional mentions, when we help those in need we do so out of compassion and sympathy, not seeking recognition or earthly reward. Your attitude of gratitude and adoration toward Jesus reflects a beautiful disposition of heart. May the Lord continue to bless you and use you as an instrument of His love and mercy toward others. God bless you!
Sabino Marroquín López: Day by day I ask God to give me good health, to continue working on the project, to generate thousands of jobs in the fields, so that needy families have sustenance for their children and their elderly parents.
What a beautiful prayer, Sabino. It is inspiring to see your desire to be a blessing to others through your work and projects. Your words reflect concern for those who need sustenance and support, demonstrating a generous and compassionate heart. As Charles Spurgeon's devotional mentions, when we act in favor of those in need, we do so as if we were lending to the Lord himself. May God continue to guide your steps and bless your efforts so that you can be a source of blessing and hope for many families. May the Lord grant you strength and wisdom in your work!
Ruth Vives.: The good Christian must cultivate the task of doing good and of showing compassion for others who are in conditions that are considered disadvantages. When we take pity on our brother in need, God pours out mercy on all. God bless you. Amen.
What a beautiful comment, Ruth. It is true that as Christians we are called to cultivate doing good and to have compassion for those who are in disadvantaged situations. By showing mercy and compassion towards our neighbors, we are reflecting God’s love and opening the door for His mercy to be poured out on us as well. As the Bible verse Proverbs 19:17 mentions, he who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for his good deed. May your attitude of compassion and generosity continue to be a source of light and hope for those around you. God richly bless you on your walk of faith! Amen!
Iris: As Christians we must be an example in putting this word into practice, Doing good and not looking at who, with love and compassion for those who do not have the means, we know that everything belongs to God and he blesses us for his love and mercy and we must imitate him, not thinking that we should help because God will bless us twice as much or believing that because we help others we have already earned the kingdom of heaven, Today trust has been lost and many do not give because they judge the person who needs it or because of selfishness and resentment. Jesus was an example of humility and love, compassion. Love your neighbor as yourself if you fulfill that commandment; you will always have a heart willing to do good without looking at who. Jesus is so good that everything we give from the heart and with love he returns without us having to ask, he always knows what we need.
What beautiful reflections, Iris. Your words reflect a deep understanding of what it means to follow Jesus’ example in our daily lives. It is true that as Christians we must be examples of love, compassion, and generosity, no matter who we help or what we expect in return. Let us remember the words of Matthew 10:42, where Jesus teaches that any act of kindness, no matter how small, will not go unnoticed by Him. It is inspiring to see your commitment to imitating Jesus in humility and love, being a reflection of His light in a world that sometimes lacks generosity and compassion. May your heart full of love and willingness to do good continue to be a blessing to those around you, and may God’s grace and mercy continue to guide your steps. May God bless you and strengthen you in your walk of faith, Iris! Amen!
Juan Soto: The emotion you feel when helping those who need it most is indescribable. I invite you to do so and see for yourself what I am saying. It is also a way of praising God.
What a beautiful comment, Juan. It is true that the emotion and satisfaction experienced when helping those who need it most is something truly special and rewarding. As Charles Spurgeon's devotional mentions, when we help those in need we do so as if we were lending to the Lord Himself, and it is a way of showing our gratitude and love towards Him. I invite you to continue being that light and blessing for those who are in need, because as Matthew 10:42 mentions, any act of kindness towards others will not go unnoticed in the eyes of God. May your generous heart and your willingness to help be a testimony of God's love in action. May God continue to bless you and use you as an instrument of His love and mercy! Thank you for your inspiring invitation to be instruments of help and praise to God!
