Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

Jesus' death was not in vain, as it was a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins. He has saved those for whom He put His life as a sacrifice. He is represented in Christians, and His life is continued through believers. He delights in us and recognizes us as the fruit of His soul's work. We should rejoice in this and the fact that He will never cease to enjoy the result of His atonement.
