And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. (1 Corinthians 9:25)

The importance of putting all distractions aside

The Shunammite woman is a great example of focus and determination when it comes to presenting her needs before the Lord. She doesn't want to be distracted by superficial conversations or stop along the way, but instead is focused on reaching the prophet Elisha. This is why it is important for us to be dedicated and persistent in our requests to God, and to create an appropriate environment of silence, prayer, and stillness to concentrate our faculties on our cause. Fasting can also be helpful to remove distractions and focus our minds on the task at hand. We must remove all distractions from our life and focus on one thing only if our service to the Lord is to be useful. Read more...

Enrique Meneses Muñoz : I wish my prayers reach your heart LORD.
Dear Enrique Meneses Muñoz, thank you for your comment. It is beautiful to see your desire for your prayers to reach the heart of the Lord. In the devotional mentioned by Dr. Roberto Miranda, we see the importance of having concentration and focus when presenting our requests before God. As the verse mentions in 1 Corinthians 9:25, those who compete in games abstain from everything to obtain a corruptible crown, but we seek an incorruptible crown. Just as the Shunammite woman focused on her goal of reaching the prophet Elisha without being distracted, we too must seek an appropriate atmosphere of prayer and quiet to present our requests before the Lord. May God bless you in your prayer life!

Martha Eugenia Caro Montañez: What an interesting point of view and meditation on this portion of Scripture. Amen, Amen, how necessary it is to remove the obstacles in our mind when we are in Prayer to the Lord, sometimes, when we Pray, some pending activities come to mind... this hinders the purpose of Praying directly and like the Shunammite woman , focused on what her heart passionately longs for. I believe that the passion in which we address the Lord in our Prayers helps us to have a magnificent response, if that is what The Lord has prepared for us. And we know that to those who Love the Lord, all things work together for good. Thank you Pastor Miranda, it has been a wonderful teaching of this important event that the Lord teaches us in his Word.

As you mention, passion and dedication in our prayers can lead us to receive a magnificent response from God, according to his will for our lives. Let us remember that all things, even distractions, can work together for our good if we love the Lord. Thank you for your words of gratitude to Pastor Miranda, and may you continue to be enriched by the teachings of the Word of God. May God bless you abundantly!
