But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. (Romans 7:23)
Charles Spurgeon

We don't need to be captives

Comments:

Vicente Palma C: If the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and for that reason Lord we ask you to free us from this temptation that the devil places in us to make us fall, help us Lord to be faithful to your principles and give us the strength to resist Satan, we praise you and we bless you Lord. Thank you for this new day of life that you give us, amen, amen.
Dear Vicente Palma C, thank you for sharing your comment. It is true that we often find ourselves fighting against the temptations and desires of the flesh that lead us away from God's principles. But, as Charles Spurgeon's devotional mentions, we are not meant to remain captive in that slavery. The devotional reminds us that even if we have fallen into the captivity of sin, we should not despair. The Lord Jesus Christ has paid a high price for our redemption and offers us a way to return to Him. As the verse in Deuteronomy 30:3 says, the Lord will bring us back from our captivity and will have compassion on us. It is important to confess our sins and seek forgiveness and deliverance in the cross of Christ. Additionally, the devotional urges us to obey God's voice with all our heart and soul. When we abandon our idols and bow down in obedience before the living God, we experience liberation and the despondency of the soul dissipates. So, as you express in your comment, we must ask the Lord to free us from temptations and give us the strength to resist Satan. Let us pray to be faithful to God's principles and trust in His grace to overcome any captivity we may face. May God bless you and give you strength in your walk with Him. Amen.
Carlos A. Borja Flores: What a timely devotional, especially to refute the false evangelical doctrine of always being saved, which justifies our failures to the law of God and does not identify them as sins. As Father Spurgeon rightly emphasizes, "God's own people can sell themselves into captivity by sin. This is a very bitter fruit from a very bitter root"; and, as the Word of God emphasizes in Romans 7:25 and Galatians 5:17. Therefore, the Holy Spirit emphasizes 1 Peter 3:11 that we abstain from the desires of the flesh.
Dear Carlos A. Borja Flores, thank you for sharing your perspective regarding the devotional and its relevance to refute certain erroneous interpretations of the doctrine of "saved always saved." It is true that Charles Spurgeon's devotional highlights the possibility that God's own people can fall into the captivity of sin. As you mention, the apostle Paul also tells us in Romans 7:25 and Galatians 5:17 about the struggle between the flesh and the Spirit. This shows us that, as believers, we are still susceptible to temptation and can still fail to obey God's law. It is important to remember that the devotional exhorts us to seek liberation and forgiveness in Christ Jesus. It encourages us to confess our sins and obey the voice of God with all our heart and soul. As you mention, 1 Peter 3:11 urges us to abstain from the desires of the flesh. It is true that God's grace saves us, but that does not mean that we can live in sin without consequences. Instead, as children of God, we should strive to live a life in obedience to His commandments. Thank you again for your comment and for highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant and obedient to the will of God. May the Holy Spirit strengthen us in our fight against the flesh and guide us on the path of holiness. Blessings to you.
Jesús rios : We have a great high priest in the house of GOD who can take pity on our weaknesses Jesus Christ the righteous, he will not leave us in the hands of satan that the Lord will rebuke him, we must submit to GOD and oppose the DEVIL and he will destroy us that is the promise that If we obey GOD the enemy will not be able to defeat us
Dear Jesús Ríos, thank you for sharing your comment. It is true that we have a great High Priest in the house of God, who is Jesus Christ, the righteous one. He understands our weaknesses and is able to sympathize with us. As you mention, He will not leave us in the hands of Satan. Charles Spurgeon's devotional also reminds us that the Lord Jesus Christ has paid too high a price for our redemption to leave us in the hands of the enemy. If we submit to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us, as mentioned in James 4:7. It is important to obey God and hold on to His Word to resist the enemy and not allow him to defeat us. Confessing our sins and seeking God in prayer brings us closer to Him and gives us the strength to resist temptations. Thank you again for sharing this beautiful truth. May the Lord give us the grace and wisdom to submit to Him and resist the enemy. May God bless you abundantly.
Francisco Diaz S.: We must be faithful with the doctrine of Christ; Let us separate ourselves from everything that subjugates and attracts man and that goes against Christian principles.
Dear Francisco Díaz S., thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right, as followers of Christ, we must be faithful to His doctrine and separate ourselves from everything that enslaves us and opposes Christian principles. Charles Spurgeon's devotional encourages us not to be captive to sin and to seek freedom in Christ. This means turning away from temptations and living according to God's commandments. As you mention, we must be faithful to the doctrine of Christ and not allow anything to subjugate us or distance us from the truth. It is important to recognize that in this world we will face various influences and pressures that go against Christian principles. But with the help and strength that God gives us, we can endure and remain firm in our faith. May God's grace and wisdom guide us to discern between what is according to His will and what is not. May He give us the strength to separate ourselves from everything that takes us away from His path and brings us closer to Him. May God bless you and keep you in your walk with Christ.
Moises Mora: We live moments out of tune knowing how to play the instruments we have for breakfast, and we always and at all times need spiritual guidance. How when a magnet breaks, it is difficult to be united, unity comes and will come from above. Thank you
Dear Moisés Mora, thank you for sharing your comment. It is true that sometimes we may feel that we are living in moments in which harmony and harmony are lacking in our lives. However, as you mention, we always need spiritual guidance at all times. When we face challenges and obstacles, it is important to remember that our true togetherness and strength comes from above, from God. Like a broken magnet that is difficult to unite, we need to seek that union that comes from God, who is able to restore and guide us. It is in those moments of lack of harmony that we need to seek God and depend on His direction and spiritual guidance. He sustains us and shows us the path we must follow. Trusting in His power and seeking His will allows us to find the harmony and peace we so long for. Thanks again for your reflection. May the Lord provide you with His constant spiritual guidance and strengthen you in your paths. May you find union and harmony in Him. May God bless you abundantly.

LET US NOT ALLOW THE MAKER OF LIES WANTS TO DESTROY LIFE IN LONELINESS AND ABANDONMENT, WE ARE STILL HERE AND WE CAN CONTINUE HOLDING HIS HAND EVERY NEW DAY TO CARRY THE FOOD THAT DOES NOT PERISH, TOGETHER WITH GOD WE CAN DO WHAT WE COULD NOT DO ALONE, AND THIS IS REAL AND IS LIVED SO, I BELIEVE IT, I LIVE IT AND AND I BELIEVE MY LORD, THANK YOU DAD
Dear Beatriz, thank you for sharing your testimony and your faith in God. It is wonderful to see how your relationship with the Lord has strengthened you in your life, especially in times of loneliness and difficulty. When we cling to God and surrender our being to Him, we experience His constant presence in our lives. As you say, Christ is always with us, and in Him we find comfort, strength and protection. It is true that loneliness can be difficult to handle, but when we have Christ in our lives, we can find refuge and be a support for others who are also going through times of loneliness and abandonment. Our life can be a living testimony of God's love and grace. It is important to remember that with God we can do what we could not do alone. He trains us and guides us in every stage of our life. Let us not allow the enemy to try to destroy lives through lies and loneliness. Instead, let us continue to cling to the hand of our heavenly Father and share the spiritual food He provides us, to be a light and a help to those around us. Thank you for your message of faith and hope. May the Lord continue to bless you and strengthen you in your walk with Him. May you continue to feel His embrace and His protection in every step you take. God bless you abundantly!
