The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (Isaiah 40:3)
And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: (Matthew 20:27)

You cannot reach greatness without first going through the desert

We must always remember that we are servants to one another and should retain great humility when serving others. In Matthew 20, the mother of the sons of Zebedee asks Jesus to order that her sons sit in His Kingdom, one on His right and the other on His left. She has a mentality of lordship and control, and desires personal benefit for her children. Jesus surprises her with a question asking if she can pay the price for authority in the Kingdom of God, which involves going through a process of breaking and pruning, being tested and humiliated, and understanding who we are with total humility. We cannot reach greatness without first going through the desert and cannot get to Resurrection Sunday without going through Crucifixion Friday. The path to greatness is through the humiliation of the inner being, and we must allow God to put us through a process rather than trying to shortcut it. Read more...

Amen, brother Wulfredo. It is true, in accepting the challenge of the King of kings and Lord of lords, we must be obedient and humble, drinking the bitter cup that is presented to us. As the devotional mentions, to achieve greatness in the Kingdom of God, it is necessary to go through the desert and submit to the process of breaking and forming that God has for us. Let us continue to be servants and slaves of our Lord, trusting that He will guide us along the right path. May the grace of God be with you!

Francisco Diaz S.: All of us who follow Christ long to reach the kingdom of Heaven, but not all of us reach it, only those who have merited their passage through this world.- Many are invited but few are chosen.- Humility is a quality that exalts
Brother Francisco Diaz, thank you for your comment. You are right, we all long to reach the kingdom of Heaven, but it is important to remember that not everyone reaches it. As you mention, those who demonstrate merit and humility in their walk through this world are those who are chosen by God. Humility is truly a quality that exalts us and brings us closer to the will of our Lord. Let us continue to strive to be humble in our service and obedience to God and remember that it is He who enables us to do so. May the Lord continue to bless and guide you in your spiritual life!
