Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. (Psalm 51:1)
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19)

The terrible cost of sin

In this meditation, the focus is on the importance of calling people to holiness and presenting it as beautiful and positive, rather than just instilling fear of damnation. The example of David's life is used to illustrate the cost of sin and the beauty of holiness. When David repents of his sins, he humbles himself before God and is forgiven, showing the mercy and grace of God. However, there are still consequences to his actions, such as the death of his illegitimate child and ongoing conflict in his lineage. The meditation emphasizes the importance of balance and nuance in God's treatment of His people, and the church should strive to emulate this. Read more...

Comments:

Francisco Diaz S.: Sin and injustices are erased by the mercy of God but the consequences remain.- We see it in the life of King David, how much misfortune befell him through his beloved son Absalom.- Let us avoid sin at all costs and we will live in grace
Thank you Francis for your comment. It is true, as Dr. Roberto Miranda mentions in his devotional, the consequences of sin can be terrible and long-lasting. But it is also important to remember that God is a God of mercy and forgiveness. However, this does not mean that we can sin with impunity, as the verse of Acts 3:19 points out, which invites us to repent and convert so that our sins are erased. By living in grace and obedience to God, we can avoid many of the negative consequences of sin in our lives.
Gustavo Martinez Afanador : Sin leads us to ruin our spiritual life, only the fear of God makes us return because it brings consequences to the family and our lives and that makes us react to repentance to be and live in holiness. Blessings
Thank you Gustavo for sharing your comment. As you mention, sin can have a negative impact on our spiritual life and on our family. That is why it is important to have the fear of God in our lives, so that we turn away from sin and live in holiness. In addition, repentance is a key step to restore our relationship with God and seek to live correctly. May God bless you too.
Enrique Meneses Muñoz : blessed word of GOD
Thank you Enrique for your comment. The word of God is truly blessed and guides us on the path of life. God bless you.
Ylcia: This is a very good and clear reflection, many believe that they can play with God because God is love and forgives, but they forget that sin brings consequences and although he forgives us and his love and grace protect us, we have to pay the consequences of sin. May God give us strength not to sin
Thank you Ylcia for your comment. It is true that God is love and forgives, but he is also just and sin brings consequences in our lives. It is important to keep this in mind to avoid falling into the temptation of sin. With God's help, we can have the strength to stay holy and avoid the negative consequences of sin. God bless you.
