Wicked men will not bring our downfall
Charles SpurgeonMen are often as devoid of reason as they are of faith. There are still "wicked and evil men" among us. There is no use arguing with them or trying to have peace with them: they have a false heart and their conversation is deceptive. Well, what shall we do? Will we worry about them? Not; Let us turn to the Lord, for He is faithful. No promise of His word will ever be broken. He is not unreasonable in His demands on us, nor is He unfaithful to our arguments regarding Him. We have a faithful God. This is to be our joy.
He will confirm us in such a way that wicked men will not bring about our downfall, and He will guard us in such a way that none of the evils that now beset us will actually do us any harm. What a blessing it is for us that we do not have to contend with men, and rather that we are allowed to shelter ourselves in the Lord Jesus, who truly identifies with us. There is a sincere heart, a faithful mind, an unchanging Love; let's rest there. The Lord will fulfill the purpose of His grace to us, His servants, and we must not allow even a shadow of doubt to fall upon our spirits. Anything that men or demons can do cannot prevent us from enjoying divine protection and provision. Let us pray on this day asking the Lord to strengthen us and keep us.
