A faithful remnant

SUMMARY: True religion often finds a home among the poor who are rich in faith, as affliction and poverty can lead to trust in the Lord. This faithful remnant may be considered little by the world, but they are a channel of blessings and a preservative salt in the midst of corruption. The question for each individual is whether they are part of this remnant and if they trust in the Lord. If so, they are in the world for a purpose.
When true religion has the propensity to die out among the wealthy, it finds a home among the poor of this world, rich in faith. The Lord even now has a faithful remnant. Am I part of that remnant?
Perhaps it is because men are afflicted and poor that they learn to trust in the name of the Lord. He who has no money has to prove what he can do with confidence. He whose name is not good for anything in his own estimation, would act wisely if he relied on another name, on the best of names, on the name of Jehovah God who will always have a people who trust in Him, and this will be a people poor and afflicted. Although the world considers it little, its permanence in the middle of a nation is the channel of untold blessings for that nation. Here we have the preservative salt that keeps the corruption that exists in the world under control through lust.
Again the question arises for each of us: am I part of that remnant? Am I afflicted by the sin within me and the sin around me? Am I poor in spirit, poor spiritually in my own judgment? Do I trust the Lord? This is the main thing. Jesus reveals the name, character, and person of God; Am I trusting Him? If so, then I am in the world for a purpose. Lord, help me to fulfill it.
