All the truth
Charles SpurgeonThe truth is like a vast cavern we wish to enter, but are unable to travel alone. Its entrance is clear and bright; But if we went deeper and explored its most hidden recesses, we would need a guide or we would get lost. The Holy Spirit, who knows all the truth perfectly, is the guide assigned to all true believers, and the He leads according to his own ability, from one inner chamber to another, to behold the deepest things of God, and to have His secret revealed to them clearly. What a great promise this is to a humble inquisitive mind! We want to know the truth and enter it.
We are aware of our own propensity to err, and we feel an urgent need for guidance. We rejoice because the Holy Spirit has come and dwells among us. He condescends to act as a guide for us, and we joyfully accept His leadership. We want to learn "The whole truth", so that we do not become biased and out of balance. We do not want to be willing to ignore any part of the revelation so as not to miss out on some blessing, or to incur sin. The Spirit of God has come to guide us into all truth: let us listen to His words with obedient hearts and follow His guidance.
