Lion of zion
Faustino de Jesús Zamora VargasThe lion of Zion waits patiently. The mountain cries out for your presence. While man disputes the "sacrosanct" spaces, stones and buildings that recall the history of God, He glorifies himself in a temple not made by human hands, where worship takes on a singular meaning ; a sacred mountain not because of its history, but because to build it a heavenly birth, a providential cross and a death were necessary to touch eternity. Jesus is the archetype of such a temple. The man dressed in his existential rags can barely understand the greatness of God, the dimension of the eternal, the transcendence of the child who was born in Bethlehem and who today is a warrior and lion of all Zion that comes out of the limits of Israel.
We are Zion for that first Christmas of shepherd heralds, of angels singing glories and wise men from the east to offer myrrh and incense. The heralds announced, the angels worshiped, the sages humbled themselves. And you, what are you going to do at Christmas?
We are Zion because we are God's people, because of his grace, because of the new covenant inaugurated in his blood, because of his promises of total redemption, because of his sufficiency in today's vicissitudes, because of his fullness that is all in all. From Zion came the power, the Spirit that guides, the hand that sustains us. Christmas is that and more: it is a renewed pact in our being, it is to be better for others, it is humiliation to consciously feel the mercies of "God with us", it is to free oneself from religiosity and to seek the tender hand of the child of Bethlehem to bathe us in his permanent anointing. The lion of Zion lives from Bethlehem and Bethlehem is today the human soul. His temple is the human heart, ours is his body broken for our sins and become the Spirit of salvation and glory… by his grace.
This Christmas, be renewed in his Spirit, become Mount Zion. Do not lose heart in your tribulations because it is your refuge. He is not far away; Invoke him! He is here, worship him! Do not forget that you are his temple.
God bless your word!
