It is on the path of truth that real peace is found
Charles SpurgeonIt is a good thing when a man can be painstakingly imitated for profit, as Paul could be imitated. Oh, may we receive the grace to imitate him this day and every day!
If we, through divine grace, put the Pauline teaching into practice, we could reclaim the promise that is now open before us; And what a promise it is! God, who loves peace, makes peace, and instills peace, will be with us. "Peace be with you all" is a sweet blessing; But may the God of peace be with us, it is a greater blessing. In this way we have both the source and its currents, we have the sun as well as its rays. If the God of peace is with us, we will enjoy the peace of God that passes all understanding, even though external circumstances threaten to disturb us. If men disputed, we would become peacemakers, if the Peacemaker is with us.
It is on the path of truth that real peace is found. If we abandon the faith or deviate from the path of justice under the notion of promoting peace, we will be gravely mistaken. First pure, then peaceful, is the order of wisdom and evidence. Let's stick to Paul's instruction, and we'll have the God of peace with us just as he was with the apostle.
