How should a Christian vote?

Omar Soto
(Audio: Spanish)

SUMMARY: The speaker addresses the controversial topic of voting in the upcoming election from a Christian perspective. Rather than focusing on who to vote for, the speaker urges Christians to consider how to vote based on the principles of the Kingdom of God. The speaker emphasizes the importance of prayer for those in positions of power and the church's responsibility to stand firm in the principles of the word of God and denounce injustices. The speaker warns against putting hope in political figures and systems, as our true citizenship is in heaven. Ultimately, the speaker encourages Christians to make their decision based on what God is demanding of the church today and to remember that whoever is elected, we have a call to pray for them.

The speaker encourages the church to pray for whoever is elected on election day and to prepare themselves for when God intervenes. He believes that the church can make a mark by voting and defending the principles of the Kingdom of God. He urges the church to read books and understand the issues in society and politics so that they can align themselves with the principles of God's word. The speaker prays for wisdom, courage, and discernment for the church to denounce and declare the truth and justice of God. He asks for God's protection, peace, and strength for the church to face whatever tomorrow may bring. The speaker closes with a blessing and a greeting of peace.

The topic I want to share tonight is a very controversial subject. And since we are two weeks away from the elections, obviously I have felt in my heart the concern to be able to share with you something about it. It is not that I am going to have an overly elaborate sermon, I just have a few points that I would like to share with you.

And I would like to start with a question that I know happens to many believers, and whenever election time comes around, the question is, who am I going to vote for? How many have asked that question? Many of you approach us, the pastors, and tell us, pastor, who do you think I should vote for? And I'm sorry to tell you, but it's not up to us to tell you who to vote for. What's more, I think that this question is an equivocal question.
