SUMMARY: The fear of falling is natural, but we can trust in the right hand of God to sustain us. This hand represents His power and skill, and He promises to always uphold us with it. We should not be afraid, for the devil cannot bring down those whom God sustains. We can boldly move forward, leaning on God's support and trusting in His faithfulness. This should bring us great joy and peace.

The fear of falling is healthy. Being bold is not a sign of wisdom. Times come when we feel we must collapse unless we have a very special livelihood. Here we have it. The right hand of God is a great support. Notice that not only does His hand say, even though He keeps heaven and earth in their places, but His right hand : His power coupled with ability, His power where it is most skillful. But this is not all; it is written: "I will always sustain you with the right hand of my righteousness." That hand that He uses to maintain His holiness, and to execute His royal sentences, is the one that will be extended to sustain those who trust Him. Being fearful is our danger, but being joyful is our security. Devils cannot bring down the man whom God sustains.

Our feet may be weak, but almighty is the right hand of God. The road may be rough, but Omnipotence is our sustenance. We can bravely forge ahead. We will not fall. Let us continually lean on the support of all things. God will not withdraw His strength, for His righteousness is also there: He will be faithful to His promise, and faithful to His Son, and therefore faithful to us. How happy we should be! We are not?
