God does not bless what He has not started

SUMMARY: God doesn't need us to work tirelessly for Him, but desires sons and daughters of integrity and character who model the life and anointing of Jesus. We should focus on abiding in Christ and trusting in His power rather than striving to do works for Him. The story of Martha and Mary in Luke 10:40-42 illustrates the importance of being at Jesus' feet and allowing Him to minister to us. We should seek spiritual refreshment in His presence and let our good works be born in His heart, not our own desires for self-realization.

God does not need men to wear themselves out for him, but sons of integrity and character who express and model the life and anointing of his Son Jesus with his whole being. There is nothing we can do by and for God that meets our own expectations of serving Him. We will never be completely satisfied and we want to do more and more and more until we fall into the whirlpool of a lifestyle that seeks to please God, but unconsciously focuses on self-realization and becomes fatigued. If salvation is by faith and we walk in faith, why do we strive to do works instead of abiding in Christ, trusting in His power and deity and allowing Him to fulfill His role of shepherding our lives?

A few years ago I read a lovely quote. A well-known Christian author expressed in one of his writings: it is good to spend oneself for God. The expression seemed phenomenal to me and I even appropriated it. I admit, with no little shame, that I am on the side of those criticized for wanting to do too much for God. I am not, however, one of those who has neglected the spiritual areas that lead me to a more intimate relationship with Him, but in my good spirit to serve Him, perhaps I have been inconsistent in what really remains: to be at His feet. and allow in the stillness of the heart that my spirit minister with his sweet voice and trust that He is going to do things. Do you remember the attitudes of Martha and Mary when Jesus visited them at their home in Bethany? Martha busy and troubled serving the Lord and Mary delighting in the Word of God sitting at her feet. The full story is in Luke 10: 40-42 and we should reread it from time to time. I invite you to do it now and let God speak to your heart and reveal this incredible spiritual truth to you.

The accommodations of Western culture striving in search of success and personal fulfillment have also crept into the church of Christ and often, without realizing it, we find ourselves involved in a permanent act as if it were our loss of life. new life in Christ sacrificially won on the cross. This meditation does NOT suggest that we serve less and pray more, but rather seek God more every day so that our good works may be born in His heart and not in ours. A well-known theologian rightly stated: "God does not bless what He has not started." He is the source that awakens in his children both the will and the doing of their good will. It does suggest - and now I am also self-ministering - that we take into account the Lord's invitation to abide in Him because apart from Him nothing is possible to do. The key is to remain in His essence, and thus our good works will not be the result of our pure and sincere desire to serve Him, of the desire for self-realization in the Christian life, but of the delicious imprint of His presence within us, of unity. monolithic that we form in him, of the unmistakable call of his sweet love.

Let us seek new times of spiritual refreshment in the company of the eternal Redeemer, Jesus Christ our Lord. There is no greater delight than to rest at your feet; the place He prefers us to choose to acquire first-hand the good part that will never be taken from us.

God bless you!
