From little to abundance
Charles SpurgeonWhen the Lord has given a man much grace, He will give him more. A little faith is like an egg in the nest; more faith will be added to it. But it must not be a feigned faith, but a real and true faith. What need is imposed on us so that we achieve a solid job in matters of religion, instead of professing much without owning anything! For one of these days our own profession would be taken from us, if that were all we possessed. The threat is as true as the promise.
Blessed be the Lord because His method is that once the giving of thanks by His Spirit has begun, it continues, until the one who had little, but really had that little, is led to have in abundance. Oh, we long for that abundance! The abundance of grace is something to be longed for. It is good to know a lot, but it is better to love a lot. It would be a very delightful thing to have an abundance of ability to serve God, but it is still better to have an abundance of faith to trust the Lord for ability and everything else.
Lord, since You have given me a sense of sin, deepen my hatred of evil. Since You have led me to trust Jesus, raise my faith to full assurance. Since You have led me to love You, cause me to be taken away by a fierce affection for You!
