The best gift that satisfies
Omar Soto(Audio: Spanish)
SUMMARY:
The speaker talks about how during Christmas time, people look for ways to satisfy their needs and desires through gifts. However, even if they receive what they want, they will not be completely satisfied. The speaker then refers to the story of the Samaritan woman who had been through several marriages and was not satisfied. Jesus tells her that if she knew the gift of God, she would ask for water and never be thirsty again. The speaker emphasizes that the gift of God is offered by God himself and has an unlimited resource. The true meaning of a gift is not just in the gesture but also in the content. The gift from God is not designed to gather dust but to last for eternity. To accept this gift, there must be sensitivity in the heart.
The gift of discernment is important in our lives and we should ask God for it. Discernment helps us distinguish between good and bad and perceive if something comes from God or not. Examples of discernment in the Bible include King Solomon, Nehemiah, and Jesus. We need discernment in our personal lives to make decisions and avoid headaches. By being part of a church that is in line with God's call, we have a direct connection to heaven and access to unlimited resources. However, before receiving God's gift, we must fix a couple of things in our lives. God wants to deal with our interior and offer us something new to experience of His love.
The pastor speaks about the gift of Christ Jesus and how there is always something new to know and experience of God's love. He invites anyone who wants to receive this gift for the first time to stand up and pray with him. He also invites those who have known God for years to stand and pray for a bigger and more abundant way of knowing God. He prays for God's love to fill everyone abundantly and for them to have encounters with God that surprise them. He asks that the Christmas season acquires a new meaning, that is, the gift of Christ living in the midst of our hearts. He prays for God's renewal and for rivers of living water to come out of us. Finally, he gives all the glory and honor to God.I was thinking as I was preparing the message last night and I was saying, Lord, how fast this year has gone. I can't believe that a couple of days ago we were celebrating the farewell to the year 2009 and welcoming 2010. And where are we now? We are there to tell you, let's go to 2010 and receive 2011. This means that 2012 is coming, so if the Aztec calendar is correct.
But let's better think that it was that the Indians ran out of stone at that time. Let's think about it that way. But obviously my brothers, we are in Christmas time. How many of you have already put your Christmas tree in your house? We'll see. OK. They put the little deer that shake their heads with little lights and everything in front of the house. Okay. Those who have not done it... hey, update yourself, decorate your house. Get into the jingle, the jingle bells songs and stuff like that.
