A place of refuge
Charles SpurgeonOutcasts of the public means of grace, we are not deprived of the grace of the means. The Lord who places His people where they feel like exiles, will be with them, and will be for them all that they could have had at home, in the place of their solemn assemblies. Own this, oh you who are called to wander!
God is for His people a place of refuge. They find sanctuary in Him in the face of all adversaries. He is also your place of worship. He is with them as he was with Jacob when he slept in the open air, and getting up, he said: "Surely Jehovah is in this place." For them God will also be a sanctuary of tranquility, like the most holy place, which was the silent abode of the Eternal. They will be calm in the face of fear of evil.
God Himself, in Christ Jesus, is the sanctuary of mercy. The ark of the covenant is the Lord Jesus, and the rod of Aaron, the urn of manna, and the tablets of the law are all in Christ our sanctuary. In God we find the sanctuary of holiness and communion. What else do we need? Oh Lord, keep this promise, and always be to us like a little sanctuary!
