Summary: The speaker shares about his annual visionary retreat where he seeks God's vision for the year ahead. During one retreat, he was led to look at the three models in the Bible for building and financing temples. The first model is from Exodus 25 where God instructs Moses to collect offerings from those with willing hearts to build the tabernacle. The purpose of the tabernacle was to manifest God's presence among his people. The second model is from David's intention to build a house for God, which was later fulfilled by his son Solomon. David offered all kinds of riches from his personal treasure for the construction of the temple. The third model is from the book of Haggai where God rebukes the people for neglecting the building of his temple and encourages them to prioritize it. The speaker emphasizes the importance of building temples for the manifestation of God's presence and the transformation of lives.
The pastor talks about the biblical examples of God's people financing his projects, such as Moses building the tabernacle, David building the temple, and the exiles rebuilding the temple after captivity. He emphasizes the importance of voluntary giving and the contagious nature of generosity. The pastor also explains why God calls his people to finance his projects, which is to teach them to invest in eternal things and to trust in God. He encourages the congregation to seek first the Kingdom of God and his justice, and all other things will be added. The pastor shares his personal experience of receiving this word from God when he was young and struggling with financial worries.
The speaker shares his experience of receiving a word from God at a young age, which helped him overcome the devil's temptation to focus on money. He also talks about how God involves us in his big projects to expand our minds and teach us financial strategies. He shares examples of significant offerings he has made to the Lord and how God has blessed him and his family financially. He encourages the audience to commit to God's projects and learn from them, as it can lead to blessings and prosperity.
I want to base something that the Lord ministered to me a few years ago. It happens that I am about 8 years old and at the beginning of the year I do a visionary retreat, I like to make this clarification because it is like a business meeting with God.
In other words, it is not that I am leaving to fast somewhere, to a camp, no, I'm going to a very elegant hotel, to a place that is one of my favorites in New England and I spend 5 days there. It doesn't matter what day January 1 falls, I'm already out on the 1st, I spend the next 5 days. This resource has been such a blessing because in those 5 days I focus on asking the Lord for the vision for the whole year, vision in four areas, vision of what I will be ministering to the church during the year, what I will be ministering to my home during the year, also the financial vision of the ministry and our work in relation to the region.
So I have done it for the last 8 or more years and it has been a tremendous blessing, the way God's vision is refreshed in my life, so much so that the people are used to it being either the 1st or the second Sunday of the year, they are like chicks waiting for what will be the work strategy for the whole year.
Well, in the year 2003, in the same way, I retired and before this retreat I prepare myself, that is, I spend in communion with God, meditating, I go to my bookstore and check there what books I have not read yet, or what books I would like to review again and I ended up taking 2, 3 books with me so that when I'm there at times, then I start reading.
But at that time we were at a rather crucial time in the construction of the temple, so I was very inclined to look for books that teach how to finance the construction of temples. I had that need. As a people we had already made a lot of effort, so I wanted to know what other strategies, what other models existed for how to finance the temples.
And I took a couple of books that talked about that subject, but when I got to this place, then I put myself in communion with God, to dedicate the 5 days to him, this visionary retreat and when I was meditating about the part of the financing of the temple , and I was mentioning to the Lord that I had the intention of reading them, then the Lord spoke to my mind, to my heart, very strong and told me this, "why are you looking in the books if in my word there are three models of How are temples built and how are temples financed?”
Immediately I thought and I said, wow, that's right. In Scripture there are three models of how temples are built and how expenses are covered. How many are interested in that? OK. So I want to take you quickly to the book of Exodus, Chapter 25, there we find the story of that famous tent in the desert known as the tabernacle or the tabernacle of Moses or the tabernacle of the desert. And let's see this model of God. Exodus 25 from 1 onwards:
“…The Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people of Israel to bring me their sacred offerings. Accept the contributions of all who have a heart willing to offer….”
I want to repeat that part, “…. Accept the contributions of all who have a willing heart to offer…” Do you notice that? Notice that God has always loved a cheerful giver. OK? And then he mentions a list of what they are to collect, verse 3, he says:
“…The following is a list of the sacred offerings that you will be able to accept from them: gold, silver, bronze, blue, purple and scarlet thread,…”
Lots of materials, then it says in verse 8:
"...Have the Israelites build me a holy sanctuary so that I may dwell in their midst..."
In other words, Moses tell the people to contribute to build me a sanctuary, what was that sanctuary for? Simply and simply because I want to be in their midst. What are the sanctuaries for? For the manifestation of God in the midst of his people. I know that there are many people who have a very close, very intimate communion with God, they adore the Lord wherever they are, when they go to work, in the car or when they are in the kitchen or... well, praise God for those people . But even so, tell me if perhaps you don't notice the difference between being apart in communion with God and meeting with the purpose of seeking the face of God and listening to his word.
There is a very nice version, it is written, embodied in that famous Psalm 133, see how good and delicious it is for brothers to live together in harmony. It is like good oil, like oil, it is like an anointing poured out on Aaron that goes down over his beards to his clothes. That is, this is the anointing, this is the grace of God when we meet in the sanctuaries. That is to say, this is why God has always put concern and even the projects of building a house in his name, it is because God wants to manifest himself in their midst. So that? To minister life, to minister joy, to minister wisdom, to instruct the people, so that they may have life.
Are we clear? OK. Let's go to another second example, then. The other example is what is known as Solomon's temple. The truth is that I like to say that it is David's temple that Solomon built, because you will remember David's intention. This David was tremendous, tremendous. What impresses me about David, unlike Moses, is that God asked Moses for the tabernacle and gave him the design. In David's case it was something very spontaneous, it is something fascinating because David was enjoying the kingdom in Israel, he was in a house from what you hear, a beautiful palace, and when he saw the blessing of God around him, he said Wow, this doesn't look good, there's something wrong with this whole picture. How is it possible, Lord, that you have blessed me with all this kingdom and this palace, and look at you, in a little shop, in a little shop, in some curtains? No, it's not fair, he said, and then David sets out his heart to build a house for God.
You remember how God sends the prophet and the point is that God does not allow it. He doesn't allow it because David had been a warrior since his youth, he had spilled so much blood that God says, you know what, David? Well, the intention is good but, wow, here comes another message, by the way, because God tells him, look, you know what, David? I know the intention of your heart, and you are not going to build me a house, and listen to what he tells you, I am going to build a house for your name and when he tells you, I am going to build a house for your name, do you know what he tells you? He tells him, David, because you have arranged in your heart to build me a house, listen to this, this is the prayer of every father, God tells him, you know what?
"...I take care of your children, and David is more, moreover, during the entire reign of Israel there will not be a lack of one of your children who sits on the throne that I have given you..."
And we all know, brothers, what God did with David. Even God had to divide the kingdom between the northern kingdom and Judah to preserve, because all of Judah, all the kings of Judah were sons of the line of David, and that line continued until the Messiah was born.
In other words, it is a serious thing when we get ready in the midst of God's blessing to tell him, Lord, you have been so good to me that I have to do something for your house. How many have already said that here in this place? How many have recognized the goodness of God and say, Lord, how much you have blessed us. You look at your life, your home, your job, your car, your apartment, your house and you say, Lord, you have really been good in a great way. We are going to build you a house in your name.
That was what David did. Now, I already explained to you why David did not personally build the house himself, but what the first book of Chronicles teaches us, Chapter 29 is very beautiful, verse 1, I am going to select some verses, from 1 onwards:
“…Then, King David said to the whole assembly… ─ I tell him, this is already the old David, the mature David ─ … says David, only Solomon, my son, has God chosen. he is young and tender in age and the work is great…”
This goes with a dedication to all those who at some point have asked themselves, Pastor, why get into another mess if we are so well here? I liked what Cash Luna said on one occasion, when the person was seeing the temple that they were building, the first, not this one that they are doing now in the City of God, but when they were building this temple that they currently have, he says that a person of money and he said, pastor, why bother building something so luxurious and so expensive? Why don't you make a galley? They told him, I don't know if you know the term galley. And he, although he did not answer it, within himself he said, the galley is for the chickens, he said, not for the people of God.
And the woman got into her Mercedes and left. In other words, because the concept is often ours, why bother? Why something so expensive? Why get into so many challenges again? For all those who have thought like this, how nice that the word answered it. David answered it, he said that the work is great, why? Because the house is not for any man but because it is a house for Jehovah, God.
Hallelujah! Why so much trouble? Because the house is for God. We too have gotten into our own mess, some know it, but a mess that wow... when I stop like this, when I see how much is left, what fills me with so much comfort is, Lord, thank God that one day we decided to start, because you take us out of here, Lord.
But I never stop being surprised, Lord, but why did you tell me to build this house for you? And do you know what is one of the natural explanations to explain to people with a natural mind? Have you ever passed by chance through a neighborhood, perhaps driving your car, by bus, and you pass through a neighborhood and suddenly you see a house that calls your attention because of its beauty, the garden, the details and you wonder , stops and wonders, wow, who will live there? Yes. You can even imagine those who live there. You say, who will live there? Wow. We have stopped with my wife in some houses, brothers, and that is why we also like to go to Newport a lot to see the mansions. And you wonder, wow, who lived there? And for that reason one reads their story or listens to their story.
Of course, there is the other side of the coin. How many have gone through a house or apartment that only looks, you say, who will live there? And you imagine who lives there. I hope they are not Hispanic, but hey. So, the reason why we have built a beautiful temple is because the world that does not know God and even those who do not know God who are in the church, when they wonder, and people pass by, wow, what will that building be? ? Who will live there? And you, come in, come in, come in so that they can meet with the presence of the one who fills that place and who transforms lives and families and nations. That is why we build great things for the Lord.
And then David starts mentioning and says, verse 2;
“…With all my might I have prepared for the house of my God gold for things of gold, silver for things of silver, bronze for things of bronze, iron, wood, onyx stones, precious stones, black stones, stones of different colors, all kinds of precious stones, marble stones in abundance…”
Listen to that tremendous David, but what you're going to hear right now is even more tremendous, because I'm telling you, David took all this inventory and said,
"...Here I deliver for the house of God and the entire list of riches..."
But you know what? He did that as king, that's why he says next, verse 3:
“…In addition to all this that I have delivered, since I have my affection, my love in the house of my God, I keep in my private treasure… ─ in other words, I do not have to do this, as king I have given from the treasury of the kingdom, but from my personal treasure - … gold and silver that, in addition to all the things that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary, I have given for the house of my God…”
And the second list comes:
“… 3 thousand talents of gold ─ how does the eye look? ─ …. Three thousand talents of gold and gold of Ophir, 7 thousand talents of refined silver to cover the walls of the houses, gold for things of gold and silver for things of silver, and for all the work of the hands of the craftsmen …”
For all this that was... listen to me, all that wealth, for all that wealth, it's like some were, brothers, looking for what time the time for the offering would arrive, hopefully David will ask for the offering, hopefully he will collect an offering. Because let me tell you, just as greed is contagious, so is generosity.
If you are in the midst of a generous people then you feel like giving. If you are in the middle of a stingy town, it is hard to give there. And how beautiful that David, how beautiful that as the priest, is the people, and in this case, as the king was, it was the people, and David perceived that the people were restless about giving to the Lord for his house because he says David below:
"... And who wants to make a voluntary offering to Jehovah today?.."
And there the officers, listen to me,
"...the officials, the heads of families, says verse 6, the princes of the tribes of Israel..."
You will say, pastor, is that in the Bible? I'm reading it there. In my Bible, there it is. Pastor, we think that this temple offering started right now with León de Judá. No. This is how God has always financed his projects, since the time of Moses, since the time of Israel, that's how God has done it.
And then, verse 6 says, at David's invitation:
"... which the heads of families and the princes of the tribes of Israel, heads of thousands and hundreds with the administrators of the king's treasury, offered voluntarily..."
And the third list of riches goes. There appear the riches that all the officers already gave. And you know what happened? That before seeing the testimony of the king of the officials, the entire town was infected with generosity. The town was nervous, I hope they collect offerings here. and yes, they gave him an opportunity and verse 9 says:
"... And the people rejoiced for having contributed voluntarily because with all their hearts they offered to Jehovah voluntarily..."
Are you listening back there? Can you hear back there? Can you hear up there? How did they offer offering? Voluntarily. Tremendous.
Let's move on. Let's go to the third model that appears in Scripture, which was a very interesting model as the years passed, Israel in its rebellion against the Lord was invaded and taken into exile, into captivity, they destroyed the temple, it was when the from Judah were taken to Babylon. Some of you will remember that portion, they had destroyed the temple.
But the 70 days that Jeremiah had prophesied were fulfilled and now the time had come for them to return. Very interesting details that happened there. But the point is this, the book of Ezra, Chapter 1, I want to read you verse 1 onwards. I find it very interesting because here the initiative is given by God precisely to a king who had nothing to do with Israel. Very tremendous, then verse 1 of Ezra says:
“…In the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, to fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, the LORD awakened the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia, which he proclaimed by word and also in writing throughout all his kingdom saying, ─ listen to what was the edict that came out of the king ─ … “Thus says Cyrus, king of Persia, Jehovah, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem which is in Judah."
Hey how tremendous this is. It is one of those cases that God uses an unconverted person, imagine, but the principle is the same, I want you to realize. Listen to Cyrus's invitation to the people of God, verse 3 says:
“…Whoever is among you from his people, ─ is speaking to the exiles, okay? ─ whoever is among you of his people, be God with him and go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah and build the house of Jehovah, the God of Israel, he is the God, which is in Jerusalem, and to all who are left in any Wherever he lives, let the men of his place help him with silver, gold, goods and livestock, as well as freewill offerings for the house of God which is in Jerusalem. Then the heads of the paternal houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites stood up ─ Notice how interesting, ─ …all those whose spirit God awakened…”
Amen. He knows that for God's great projects to be achieved, God has to awaken the spirit of the people. I don't know how many of you have received a tremendous impact from God, brothers, some call it first love, but how many of you have experienced that, that you don't want to miss a single service, that when you try to offer, there it is you empty your pockets, and here you are... you are serving the Lord, that is, that tremendous passion, your spirit has been awakened for the things of God.
But suddenly sin comes, the world, the devil and sees you so awake and seeks how to distract you and how to give you a little kick and you who want to be wide awake in the things of God, very attentive, suddenly, God does not call me, don't worry if this is for a long time, if this is not a 100-meter dash, this is Christian... look, you converted at 20 and you start to be a Christian until you are 80, take it easy man. Take it easy.
And some brothers are not left. No, they say, no, have you met them? Brother, for years they pass electric in the Lord, ah, I have seen several here. one comes, brother, to the years and cannons follow. Brothers committed to the Lord. There are other brothers listen to me, the enemy manages to distract them, take away their strength, and they start to sing... my child was terrified... and suddenly, brother, a cult of [inaudible] comes and I have to wake up, I can't even leave myself for the enemy for sin, or anything. And the enemy, no, no, no, terrified, terrified... come on little Christian... go to sleep now...
And suddenly the Christian turns out, listen to me, so animated that he was, suddenly he turns out, brothers, with the years without strength, listless, he is no longer useful. And the devil giving him little lice, we say. In a special activity, in a time of prayer, in a cult, he wants to wake up, brothers, and he tells him, no, no, I have to change my ways... and the devil, terrified, terrified... little louse, little louse. He even looks for his blanket there.
And there he spends sleeping for months and years. Word. There are two. Listen to me, the case is when God's projects arrive and he finds a sleeping town, oh, no, they say, how lazy, another temple. No no. that's not for you, shhshhshs. Oh, I thought I had to give. No, it is not for you, it is for the new town that is coming, for people who have…, it is not for you…. to fall asleep for another few years.
And as the brothers say, may the Lord rebuke the devil in the mighty name of Jesus. You have to take advantage when the spirit of God awakens a people, you have to take advantage when the spirit of God awakens a people because it says that then those whose spirit God awakened to go up and build the house of Jehovah, which is in Jerusalem, and He says that everyone who was around him helped him with silver and gold, with goods, cattle, with precious things in addition to everything that was offered and the key word is, he offered himself voluntarily.
This is how God's projects are done, with awake people. Pay attention to what God wants to do, pay attention to what God wants to do, how am I going to participate and when you hear the whispers of the enemy you already know how to tell him, and send him brother to sing to another but not to you. you will be awake because the spirit of God is in you and where the spirit of God is, there is life. Hallelujah!
Amen. tremendous this. I am going to talk to you about why it is that God has designed within his plan, that the people themselves are in charge of financing the temples. I mean, why? You know all the churches are waiting for the millionaire to come in. Almost the majority of churches, brothers, especially with large projects, yes, and many pray for that, many pray, Lord, Father, the millionaire who is going to give the 3 million. Yes, the people pray, brothers, and listen to me and they are really waiting for you, they are waiting for you. And they look at someone who enters like this, brother, your good. And they say, here it comes, here it comes. Let's pray for him. Lord, play it, play it.
Years ago I stopped waiting for the millionaire. Yes, because I also expected it, don't believe it, with so much pressure, I also expected it, yes. And not many looked at each other with the face of millionaires. But later I'm going to tell you why I stopped waiting for the millionaire.
I want to show you a video that we just produced for a special event and it is a video that I dedicated to the people of God in this case, to our Congregation, but I want to show it to you because it speaks... it is like a dedication to those people who do not listen directly to the voice of God. Because visionary men listen to the voice of God, those who are worthy of admiration are the ones who have to follow the instruction of what the man of God says that God spoke to him. Those brothers, my respects to them.
Yes, Abraham had the voice of God, Isaac had to trust that God had spoken to his dad, Joshua had the instruction, let's say back [inaudible] yes, but the warriors, well, hopefully this one is right . So this is a tribute to those who dare to believe the Lord. I want to show you this video that God inspired us from our project, which I hope will be a blessing to you.
Why is it that God calls his people to finance the projects of his kingdom? What is on the mind of God? and let me answer you in case someone has to leave early…
So, do you know why I stopped seeing the millionaires that arrived? Do you know why? Because I understood that if the millionaire arrived, God would bless him and prosper him, but now I understand that what they want to do is train the people so that they can be millionaires. And this is not, brothers, I am not saying this to say something that sounds like consoling those who give. No. Why is it that God asks the people to participate in his projects? I'm going to give you some important points.
First, because God wants to teach the people to invest in the eternal. Ladies and gentlemen, to date you have not seen a moving truck behind a funeral. No one can take your things no matter how beautiful they are. I catch it? Many people strive to obtain so many things and listen to me, as Job said, naked we came out of the womb and naked we are going to leave.
The only thing that we can take from this earth, have you thought what it is? The only thing we can take from this land with us, do you know what it is? They are other souls. For this reason, what we can do to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in the most massive ways possible, because the only thing we can take with us are other souls for the Kingdom of God.
That's why when we invest, this is key, brothers, this is key, I learned this from Joel Osteen when he was presenting the project that God gave him in Texas, in Houston. Because he said…, he presented a project and so the way he put it is that people pledge an offering of $2,500 each of the members, but he made such a nice presentation that he said, if you see 2,500 dollars is going to cost him to give them. But if you see souls being restored, families being restored, brothers, if you see block and metal, it will not motivate you much to give in the Kingdom of God.
That is why when God invites us to give to him it is because he wants us to invest in eternal things. This is beautiful to learn to give. The other reason why God invites us to participate in his projects is… ah, this is tremendous, it is so that we learn to trust him.
Because, listen to me, that is what brings so many crises between families and between people, the desire for life. Jesus explained the parable of the sower and says that the seed that fell among thorns is the one that the word falls, is received but the worries of life and the deceitfulness of riches drown the word and it remains without fruit. Worries get people into so much trouble, the cares of life. When we learn to invest in the Kingdom of God, do you know what we are doing? We are living Matthew 6:33,
“…Seek first the Kingdom of God and his justice and all other things will be added…”
Ah, that's rich. How many are awake? Get that word. That word is so powerful. I received it at an opportune moment in my life, when I was young and the devil whispered in my ear and told me, you're going to starve if you don't do this, if you don't do that. And at that moment the Lord gave me that word, what we did was an experience.
If you invest your life in the Kingdom of God and his justice all other things will be added. And that is what I have seen, brothers, throughout my entire life. All things, even my tastes the Lord gives me, even my tastes. Not just my needs, my tastes. For trusting him. Hallelujah!
The other reason why God makes us part of his projects is precisely so, big, gigantic projects, do you know why God does it? to expand our mind. Let me give you an example. And I can't give you many details due to time.
I remember when God began to challenge me, to sow, to give. So, I remember when I started writing my first $100 checks, because one already has a certain style. Pastor, I am 5, okay, 5. Yes, others are 20. When they go to offer, it is 5 or more or 20 or more.
So, let's say in terms of very significant offerings, I noticed that it was going up, brothers. But when God gave me this word, the one that I am sharing with you, I began to dream, to dream, and I said, Lord, I want to invest in your kingdom. Lord, I dream of the day, that's what I said, I dream of the day when I can write you a check for thousands of dollars, Lord. So that is so beautiful that I dreamed the day, I visualized myself, I saw myself writing checks for thousands of dollars, three thousand, four thousand, 5 thousand, me writing a check for the Lord. And the signature.
Yes, because most know how to sign only to get into debt. Sign here, $30,000. Where do I sign? Here here. 30 thousand dollars, 5 years tied up, 7 years tied up. And happy with life. Where do I sign? Here, here and here. OK. Happy.
I began to dream at the moment when I could give to the Lord. And you know, God allowed me to, I wrote checks, brothers, for 5,000, 10,000. When I managed to do that, I'm not exaggerating, when I managed to do it I began to dream, I said, Lord, what will the day be like when I can give an offering of 100 thousand dollars? So write a check, what will the day be like? Not from the church, personal, what will the day be like Lord when I can write you a check for 1000 dollars, and the signature.
You will think that they are true exaggerations, you will think that they are exaggerations. You know what? God already allowed me. God already allowed me with this wife, the year that we have offered the most to the Lord as a family, brothers, we did a business, God honored us, God glorified himself, to the glory of God, and that year we were able to give the Lord more than 160 thousand dollars, as a family. And that's how we've been growing, that is, of course, that was something I told him, for that time, something quite out of the ordinary.
But I do want to tell you this, when that happened I kept dreaming. And now the next thing I ask God, I don't know how long the Lord is going to take, I say, Lord, how will it be the day that I write a check for your kingdom of 1 million dollars. God will know. God knows if he finds me faithful to achieve it.
Now, listen to this, for the time I have to also go landing. But listen to this. Every year God has given us different challenges, financial strategies, every year. I can speak to you almost as if I had all the details registered in my mind, in 2003 when God spoke to me about how temples are built, I said to the Lord, Lord, wow, wow, but how can you raise so much money if you really don't want to? to look for it in another way but that the people are going to finance the temple? Sir, how are we going to find so much money? And I remember that that year, perhaps some have heard of this, but that year the Lord gave me the strategy that listen to me, that I say, that cannot come from my mind, I know that I am intelligent but it is not that bad. Yes, I can't think of making an effort... an idea, an idea... no. It is in the rest of God, in the tranquility where ideas come.
That time I was in this place in 2003, brothers, withdrawn with the Lord, the Lord gave me this word and told me, have you noticed how easy it is for you to get angry with my people Israel when they are in the desert, what other people rebellious, what a people… how they turn against God, what a disobedient people, what a disbelieving people. And God told me, you've even gotten angry, you're indignant at seeing my people Israel in the desert. And many I think it has happened to us. Those of us who have read the Bible several times, brothers, or have heard the word for years, are not like... oh, what a rebellious, incredulous people.
And the Lord told me, do you know why you think so? Because you have never been in that situation, it is easy for you to judge. And why are you telling me this, Lord? And he gave me this instruction in the year 2003, he told me, I want you to make all the people go through the desert this year.
In that way? Tell the people this year to commit to living only covering the basics, this year to refrain from all distractions and entertainment and everything unnecessary, how many are willing to do it? And listen to me, that year I remember myself, before sharing it with the people I presented it, as I always do, to my family, then to the leaders and so on to everyone until I present it to the people. I took my children to the moor and there I spoke to them, children, this is what God spoke to me. This year are we willing to cover only the basics? What does it mean? This year there will be no movies, there will be no meals out, there will be no birthday gifts, there will be no vacations, this year we are going to live with the basics and all that extra money we spend, we are going to invest in the house of God, multiply this by the families of the people.
Listen to this. Do you know how much we managed to raise that year for the temple, not tithes, only for the temple? With the church we managed to raise 1 million 600 thousand dollars. And not only that, because here comes the other part. Listen to this, this is tremendous, why does God invite us to participate in his projects, especially when they are tough challenges and one commits with significant David-style offerings, okay?
Because God, which is written in Deuteronomy 8:18, says God:
"...Because I am the one who gives the power to make wealth in order to confirm the covenant made to your fathers..."
Note how interesting, God gives the power to make wealth. Now, why is it that God brings us into this? Because in the face of challenges and when we add up and we realize that with the people's offerings, that with the people's salary, and we add up, it doesn't work, it doesn't work to fulfill something so big, it doesn't work. Sir, we can't. So, when we can't, when our minds and our possibilities stagnate, and God continues to challenge us, you know what happens? And we do our math and say, Lord, really how difficult.
Is there another way to do it? One wonders, is there another way to do it? That year 2003 we realized how much people waste money. Listen, because we made a deal. God gave me the whole plan and part of the plan was, we are not going to invest, if someone God uses it outside to give us gifts and for us to travel, then, let's accept it, that was the deal. So, on that occasion, opportunities arose, we would go out to eat and I would see… we would look, when we went to the restaurant, how much people wasted and wasted their money on unnecessary things. Since then we have been trained how to save. And I'm not talking about living tight, that year was tight, but we managed, brothers, to collect that amount of money.
Let me tell you what is happening this year in the church. This year again in the retreat God challenged me. And listen to me, when I was listening to this, I told him myself, Lord, this strategy is difficult. This yes, I am going to tell him because in the end you are telling me... but since I don't even believe that because the Lord told me, make a call to the church, three groups of people who in 4 months commit to give an offering of 10 thousand dollars in 4 months.
I am not talking about 4 months after coming from 10 years of tranquility. No, I'm talking about a strategy like that, after a people come giving and giving, and giving, that is, that is the clarification. After coming now giving such a strategy of people who can commit to the Lord to an offering of 10 thousand dollars in 4 months, and God gave me the whole strategy of what were the characteristics of the first group that ran from January to April, and then the next group that entered from May to August and now we are in the third group from September to December.
God gave me the whole plan, the characteristics of these people. They were committed people, strong people, people who had a record in the church of giving, that it wasn't just what I can do, no, that they could commit and do it.
In the first group 30 people enrolled, at 4 months 31 had finished. One more was added. In the second group 34 enrolled, only two did not finish. And the group that is now, which is the final group from September to December, 69 have signed up.
Now, listen to this, when they made a commitment, that's why this year with us is called the year of making history, when people commit themselves and connect by faith to these projects of God, and they make the commitment, they give realize that if they are to produce money, riches, it cannot come through the means that they know. That has opened up a whole dimension of how to generate money then.
Listen to this, I'm not even going to read it to you because of time, you look for it in your house, it's in First Samuel, Chapter 1. Do you remember Ana? What moment affliction made a vow to the Lord? He promised God that if he gave her a child she would give him back. That's called votes. There is a difference between pacts and vows, but the fact is that Ana made a vow. If you give me that son that I have waited for so long, I consecrate him to you, Lord.
Listen to this, because the Lord gave me this word these days while I was thinking of coming, I did not say it in the morning so I want to release it with you because the Lord worried me that he would release it to you as a church. Listen to this.
Ana was raising the baby. I am not clear at what year, some think it is at 4, others up to 7, but imagine that it is between 4 and 7 years old, that Samuel was weaned. In other words, Ana, she had that relationship, not that she was born and given up for adoption. No, he lived with the creature, what a heart Ana's that hour of hour, did not retain it but kept his word and gave it to her. Listen, I'm about to finish, listen to this part:
The Lord told me, keep reading, keep reading, later in Chapter 2, remember that Hannah was barren, but when Hannah promises God her son who is Samuel, the prophet Samuel, Hannah's womb opens and gives light to which she had promised. But the Lord told me, look carefully, that later God gave Ana more children. The Lord told me, tell the people that in the same way that I provide for them so that they can give me, I want to provide for them but so that they may be blessed, so that they may prosper.
And this is what is happening right now in the church, that those who have complied in bringing significant offerings to the Lord, of many thousands of dollars, the Lord has told me, tell them that in the way I have provided them to reach their offerings, now I want to leave that womb always fruitful but that these children will be for them. He said these words, when you commit yourself to God to be part of his projects, and you make an effort and transcend your possibilities and you are forced to pray, to seek God, to do so many things, then what God wants is to expand your mind, help you manage so that you can then manage God's blessing and prosperity.
And today what we are finding are people who are taking initiatives. And they say, pastor, in the same way that I raised funds for the Lord, I'm going to start a business out of that. I say, that's right. That's how it is.
Don't run away from God's projects. Respond to God's projects and in the process learn what God wants to teach me, what God wants to teach me. Amen.
