The Prayer Coin

Psalms 37:4 • Matthew 7:11

I confess, I've stood before the great machine Dropping prayer coins, tapping, quite obscene Waiting for my blessing, health and wealth and more Thinking faith's a currency, knocking at Your door Tap, tap, tap, a wishlist long and grand "Come on, God, deliver! Blessings in my hand!"

But the true delight, the key, the turn around Is to find my joy where You are found! Delight in You, Lord, first, before I ask or plead Then my heart's desires, You will truly feed! Not a vending machine, a Father kind and true The greatest gift I get, my God, is You!

I've learned the path is different, sequence matters quite Not wait for good outcomes, then bask in Your light No, I choose to turn away from envy, anxious stir Finding joy in Who You are, Your wisdom, love, for sure Your nature, Lord, Your presence, all I want to see And as I gaze at You, my wishes start to flee.

Oh, the beautiful plot twist, profound and so deep When I delight in You, Your promises I keep My restless wishlists fade, Your presence fills my space My heart finds its true home, embraced by Your grace No longer just a means, You are the destination, My soul's sweet satisfaction, pure adoration.

So the true delight, the key, the turn around Is to find my joy where You are found! Delight in You, Lord, first, before I ask or plead Then my heart's desires, You will truly feed! Not a vending machine, a Father kind and true The greatest gift I get, my God, is You!

No more coins, no more tap-tap-tapping, see! Just a praise song rising, wild and free! Oompah-pah, delight in You! Oompah-pah, it's true! My heart finds its home, Lord, only in You! Oompah-pah, delight! Oompah-pah, delight! You are my joy, my morning, noon, and night!
