The Consequences of Unbelief and Doubting God’s Word

Practically overnight, we are going to see a powerful move of God, and this spiritual drought we see in the nations will turn into a great rain and a great visitation of God’s power that will fall upon our societies.

And it is interesting that when the prophet Elisha declares that tomorrow there will be flour and food for everyone, a prince reacts with terrible unbelief. Verse 2 of chapter 7 says: “A prince on whose arm the king leaned answered the man of God, saying: If the Lord were to make windows in heaven now, could this be? And he said: Behold, you shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

In other words, this prince was a man of great importance and influence, so much so that the king of Israel leaned on his arm—meaning that he held a select and privileged place in the government hierarchy because the king himself favored him. Yet he reacts with great unbelief, almost mockingly, and says: Well, if God were to rain food down from heaven, would this even be possible? We must be terribly careful. When God speaks and declares something, let us not be found doubting the Word of God and resisting what God is declaring.

When this man so radically questions Elisha’s prophecy, Elisha, moved by the Holy Spirit, tells him: “Well, you will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat of it.” In other words, this is fulfilled later in a terrible way, as we will see, when the prince is trampled by the people as they go out beyond the walls to eat of the harvest that has come.

But it seems to me that this scene, when the prince questions the Word of God, is representative of authorities who do not believe that the move of God can go to such extremes. And God is telling the Church that it must be careful not to find itself in a posture of unbelief when He is declaring these great things that are to happen.

I believe we are in a time when there will be two churches: one Church filled with the Holy Spirit, endowed with the power of God, with prophetic power to receive revelation from God and declare God’s judgments and powerful moves among the nations, blessed and supported by God; and another Church, apostate and unbelieving, that will doubt these declarations and even find itself resisting the move of God, that will fall under God’s judgment and suffer the consequences of its unbelief.

At this very moment, God is drawing a dividing line between His faithful Church, which moves in the power of the Holy Spirit, and a cold, apostate, unbelieving Church that God will cast aside, that will be abandoned by the power of God and will pay the terrible price of its unbelief.

And I also believe there is a lesson here for us as individuals: when God says something to our hearts and tells us that He wants to bless us, when God calls us to move in faith, to obey Him and to undertake something in His Name, let us not be found unbelieving and doubting the Word of God. It would be better for us to run with the wind of God, to hasten to obey what God is telling us.

If God is calling you to begin studying, to sanctify yourself, do it, because God’s rain is coming. As in Noah’s case, we must prepare a great Ark so that many may be saved, even if it seems impossible that it will rain. So do not be found in the place of unbelief; God wants you to be in the place of faith. Purify yourself, prepare yourself, make sure you are part of that powerful Church that God is preparing, and strengthen the foundations of your life so that when the move of God comes, you will be found ready to receive the rain, run with God’s prophetic move and do what He wants you to do.
