Testimony — We Saw His Glory

Summary: During Eddy’s operation, what was thought to be a tumor turned out to be a hemangioma that caused uncontrollable bleeding. With no human hope left, the doctors acknowledged that only a miracle could save him. As the church and many brothers and sisters joined together to cry out for him, Eddy came out of the operating room unconscious but stable. God is powerful, miraculous, and merciful: He has authority over life, knows His creation perfectly, and hears the prayers of His people. When all seems lost, let us trust, pray in unity, stand alongside those who suffer, and recognize that human wisdom is insufficient before the greatness and purpose of God.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., Brother Eddy’s operation began. As soon as the cranial cavity was opened, everything began to become complicated, since the supposed tumor apparently was a hemangioma that ruptured and began bleeding profusely, so the brother had to receive repeated transfusions, and his hemoglobin dropped to 2 g. Unable to stop the hemorrhage, the doctors came out and spoke with the family, having given up, and with our pastor, who says that the doctor squeezed his hand tightly and told him, “You believe, don’t you?… Then pray, because we do not expect him to make it; only a miracle can save him.” The doctor was devastated: “I had never lost a patient,” he said. At that moment, many brothers and sisters were gathered at the church praying. The communication channels were activated, prayer chains were formed, and within a few minutes the hospital was filled with the children of God, who gathered there to cry out to God for a brother. At approximately 5:00 p.m., I arrived home from work and was given the news. I left for the hospital, and just a few minutes after I arrived, they brought the brother out of the operating room, still unconscious, but stable.
The God in whom we trust is a God of power. When all seems lost, God says, “Trust in Me; I have a purpose, and no one can hinder it, because I am God, and there is no other besides Me.”
The God in whom we trust is a miracle-working God. Only He can take life away or give it back, because He is the One who created it. No one knows our bodies better than He does, for we are His workmanship.
The God in whom we trust is a merciful God. Even if His plans included allowing Eddy’s life to be extinguished, the cry of His people—united in prayer, suffering with those who are suffering, and humbling themselves before Him—is capable of causing Him to change His mind out of love for His children.
Yesterday, we tangibly saw the glory of God. Yesterday, God restored a life that, in human eyes, was lost. Yesterday, God showed us how wretched we are and how useless any wisdom that does not come from Him is. Yesterday, Eddy and his family were a testimony to the greatness of our loving Father. Praised be the name of God throughout all the earth!
